Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following:
  • Summary of routine site safety inspections.
  • Conduct site visits by Cal/OSHA and other regulatory enforcement agencies.
  • Daily on-site health and safety coordination and inspections.
  • Document and track inspection records including corrective actions.
  • Certification of new employee safety orientation.
  • Lead safety meeting topics and present reports monthly.
  • Report status of lost time injuries.
  • Report status of citations.
  • Awareness of and communication regarding major equipment problems.
  • Direct the required safety and health programs, correct unsafe conditions and practices, and stop work in areas containing unsafe conditions or practices until such unsafe conditions or practices are corrected.

Skills, Knowledge & Expertise
**Please note--Requirements are essential, but preferences have flexibility. **
Requirements:
  • 3+ years of Safety experience
  • 5+ years construction experience
  • Exposure to Heavy Civil construction
  • A certificate/associate's degree in Occupational Safety and Health, or relevant craft‑side construction experience, may be accepted in lieu of degree.
  • OSHA 30
  • Physically on-site on a full-time basis
  • Strong communication skills
  • Computer software - Microsoft Office Suite, HCSS Safety
  • Driver's License in good standing

Preferences:
  • Bachelors degree in Occupational Health and Safety
  • Prior experience working in a plant-like facility
  • Strongest candidates would have experience with:
    • Hypochlorite generation system
    • Electrical and mechanical exposure
    • Excavation and piping
