Job Summary and Qualifications
The Assessment Clinician is to deliver exceptional, patient-focused care by providing supervised mental health services to patients and their loved ones. Their responsibilities include conducting assessments and patient-focused care by providing behavioral health assessments to patients in crisis. Other working with interdisciplinary teams in the ED and participating in patient placement at Research Psychiatric Center or referral to community mental health resources.

What you will do in this Role:

  • Complies with all regulatory guidance and requirements including but not limited to EMTALA
  • Demonstrates advanced clinical skills and ability to assess patients to determine appropriate level of care
  • Identifies cultural considerations, gender identity and preferred language for patients and family
  • Demonstrates advance practice in assessments, and all other documentation timely and in compliance with requirements (as appropriate to scope)
  • Assesses environment and patient's safety status and reports/responds to actual and potential safety issues or changes in the patient's condition
  • Identifies risk factors, screening criteria and interventions for patients with special precautions (e.g., suicide, homicide, falls, elopement)
  • Maintains active and timely communication with patients, families, multidisciplinary team and continuum of care providers
  • Provides education and guidance regarding state commitment processes, abuse reporting requirements, duty to warn and guardianship processes
  • Demonstrates appropriate application of age/developmental stage specific standards, policies and procedures, and guidelines in assessing and treating patients to ensure patient safety
  • Maintains professionalism and uses good communication skills in interacting with peers, staff, patients, families and in resolving conflicts
  • Demonstrates understanding of and ability to maintain clear professional boundaries with peers, patients and families
  • Serves as an educational resource to patients, families, interdisciplinary team members, payer representatives, and other parties as appropriate regarding behavioral services

What qualifications you will need:

  • (LCSW) Clinical Social Worker, or (LPC/LMHC) Licensed Professional/Mental Health Counselor, or (LMFT) Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, or (LMSW/RCSW-I) Lic Master Social Worker/Reg Clin SW-Intern
  • 2 years experience preferred
