Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Med/Surg-Tele Float Pool position requiring 2 years of MS-Tele experience and a Colorado or Compact RN license, with float coverage across a multi-hospital zone.

Details
  • Float pool position covering multiple acute care hospitals within the Denver-based Zone 3 (OrthoColorado Hospital, Longmont United Hospital, St. Anthony Hospital, and St. Anthony North Hospital)
  • Primary unit type is Med/Surg-Telemetry with potential floating to ICU and PCU/Stepdown units based on acuity needs
  • Patient population includes adults and geriatrics with diagnoses spanning cardiac, neuro, ortho, oncology, renal, urology post-surgical, general surgery, gynecology, psych/detox, ENT, and general medicine
  • Nurse-to-patient ratio is 1:5-6 based on acuity
  • Night shift schedule with 12-hour shifts (7pm-7am)
  • Weekend commitment of 6-9 shifts within a 6-week schedule
  • May be required to participate in holiday rotation
  • Rare on-call/standby requirement, typically only during low census periods
  • Uses Epic EMR system
  • RNs are required to titrate Heparin drips
  • Respiratory therapy equipment used on unit including ventilators, CPAP, and BiPAP
  • Designated charge nurse on each unit who typically does not take a patient assignment unless necessary
  • Nurse aides available on the unit
  • Schedules are released 4-6 weeks in advance and may follow either a single-facility weekly assignment or Just-In-Time format with facility assignment 1-2 hours before shift start
  • First float assignment communicated on or before the Monday start date
Requirements
  • Active Colorado or Compact (NLC) RN license required, pending licenses not accepted
  • Current BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required (active only, pending not accepted)
  • Minimum 2 years of MS-Tele experience required
  • Prior neuro experience preferred
  • BSN not required for this position
  • Must reside at least 60 miles from the Denver city center float zone
  • Driver's license copy required for consideration
  • Two professional references required: one supervisor from within the last 12 months worked, and one peer or supervisor from within the last 3 years worked, including employment dates and rehire eligibility
Additional Information
  • Travelers will float throughout the entire Zone 3 region regardless of chosen housing location
  • No home base facility for this assignment; candidates are responsible for securing housing that accommodates floating across the full zone
  • Unit/department-specific orientation includes 1-2 days with a preceptor
  • Candidates must be in-state for orientation week, even if first-day modules are completed remotely
  • Scrub color and dress code is flexible (any color permitted)
  • All time off requests must be submitted prior to starting the assignment
  • Cannot have been directly employed (full-time, part-time, or PRN) by any CommonSpirit-affiliated facility, including CHI and Dignity, within the past year
  • Candidates previously employed PRN through outside staffing firms will be considered
  • Interview process includes completing an online questionnaire for each submission, followed by potential unit manager interview if a match is identified
