Job description

TITLE: Processing Room Supervisor
DEPARTMENT: Processing
REPORTS TO: Processing Room Manager
NIGHT SHIFT: 9:00 P.M. - 6:00 A.M.
DAYS: Monday - Saturday (Off Day: 1 day off mid week based on operational needs)
SALARY: $65K - Starting Salary Based on Experience
POSITION SUMMARY:
The Processing Room Supervisor is responsible for effectively and efficiently carrying out all the tasks and duties of the Processing Room as well as assisting the Processing Room Manager with their responsibilities when they are out. More importantly they are responsible for ensuring that all orders are prepared/processed according to company and customer specifications effectively and efficiently; training new Processing personnel in their daily functions and procedures; assist when and where necessary throughout the processing room to ensure products get to staging in an efficient and timely manner; ensure that other Processing personnel receive any special or additional information for the customer from management and assist in routine inspections. The Processing Supervisor may assist other warehouse personnel in their daily activities and must perform all other duties as assigned on an as needed basis. The Processing Supervisor reports to the Processing Room Manager and checks in with the Processing Room Manager at the beginning and end of every shift.
REGULAR ASSIGNED DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Responsible for the effectiveness and efficiency of the operations of the Processing Room under their control.
  • Plan, directs and supervises the daily activities of the Processing Room as needed and directed.
  • Assist the Processing Mgr. in working with the Purchasing department to maintain a close working knowledge of their activity on a continual basis.
  • Assist in training and operation meetings on as needed basis.
  • Assist in conducting annual performance evaluations for staff.
  • Ensure HACCP and BRC procedures are followed.
  • Assist in maintaining employee schedules.
  • Review overall efficiency.
  • Assist in preparing various reports on department's efficiency relative to yield and volume.
  • Cycle yields on all products.
  • Check quality of all products leaving the cutting room.
  • Maintain good working relationship with all departments.
  • Help Processing Manager develop short-term and long-range goals for the department. Develop a plan to reach those goals and develop methods to monitor the departments' progress towards those goals along with performance incentive based on measurable data.
  • Learns the use of specialized processing equipment. (ex. Mulitvac packaging, portioning machines, fillet machines, scalers, pin boning, etc.)
  • Encourages the effective use of technology to improve operations.
  • Assist in monitoring labor costs.
  • Maintain cleaning schedules for processing room along with appropriate documentation.
  • Cut fish as needed.
  • Attend conferences and meetings related to industry trends, innovations, and education.
  • Complete all daily paperwork.
  • Other duties as assigned.

DESIRED MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Education and Experience:
  • Bachelor's Degree in a related field.
  • Five or more years of progressively responsible, related experience in a position of comparable scope and size to the Company.
  • Prior experience in wholesale trade industry preferred.
  • Knowledge of seafood HACCP and BRC.
  • Must be able to read and write in English. (ability to speak Spanish a plus)
  • Able to learn SeaSoft and / or other software packages.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Excel and Word.
  • Excellent problem solving and organizational skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills.
  • Basic arithmetic ability needed to count and take inventory.
  • Able to transfer attention from one task to another frequently without affecting performance.

  • Knowledge of seafood and proper temperature storage and handling regulations.
  • Outstanding customer service and organizational skills.
