Job description

More than one million people in the United States today are fighting blood cancer. While a traditional allogeneic stem cell transplant has been the best hope for many, the transplant itself can prove fatal or lead to serious conditions, such as graft vs. host disease. Orca Bio is a commercial-stage biotechnology company redefining the transplant process by developing next-generation cell therapies with the goal of providing significantly better survival rates with dramatically fewer risks. With our purified, high-precision cell therapies we hope to not only replace patients' blood and immune systems with healthy ones, but also restore their lives.
Summary: Reporting into the Associate Director, Commercial Operations & Strategy, the Manager, Data Analytics & Business Intelligence will lead the build-out of Orca Bio's enterprise data infrastructure - the foundation for how the organization measures and manages its performance. This individual's first priority will be establishing the KPIs, data collection processes, analytics, and reporting that enable Orca Bio to track performance across the metrics that matter most, spanning commercial, supply, clinical, and other functions across the organization.
As major co-pillars of the role, this individual will also serve as a centralized hub for Orca Bio's market research and competitive intelligence needs - translating both internal performance data and external market signals into clear, actionable insights for leadership. Partnering across Commercial, Clinical, Market Access, and Business Development, the candidate will combine strong technical and analytical expertise with the business acumen to connect data to decisions.
This is a high-visibility position critical to the successful commercial launch of TREGZI and to Orca Bio's broader operational maturity, providing the analytical backbone for performance management, physician targeting, payer strategy, and competitive positioning.
Location: candidates local to Orca Bio's Menlo Park office are preferred. If based remotely, travel will be required as needed to corporate offices in California.
Responsibilities
Data Infrastructure, KPIs & Reporting
  • Support the design, build-out, and ongoing management of Orca Bio's enterprise data and reporting infrastructure, establishing a single, trusted source of truth for organizational performance.
  • Help define the organization's key performance indicators (KPIs) and performance measurement frameworks in partnership with functional leaders, spanning commercial, supply, clinical, and other functions.
  • Lead the end-to-end process for data collection, validation, analytics, and reporting, ensuring accurate, timely, and compliant information across the organization.
  • Develop and maintain dashboards and reporting tools spanning field activity, onboarding progress, incentive compensation performance, product ordering trends, and cross-functional KPIs.
  • Identify key business trends and performance drivers and translate complex data into actionable insights for leadership.

Market Research
  • Lead end-to-end execution of HCP, patient, and payer primary market research, including both qualitative and quantitative methodologies.
  • Design study protocols, develop discussion guides and questionnaires, select and manage research vendors, oversee fielding, and synthesize findings.
  • Develop research briefs and present findings to leadership and cross-functional partners with clear strategic recommendations.
  • Build and maintain a centralized research repository to preserve institutional knowledge and enable insights reuse across functions.

Competitive Intelligence
  • Build and maintain a systematic CI monitoring framework covering allogeneic cell therapy, CAR-Ts, and emerging competitors in hematologic malignancies.
  • Track conference activity (ASH, ASCO, EHA, EBMT, TCT), clinical trial registries, FDA/EMA label and REMS changes, pricing and coverage signals, and competitor activity.
  • Develop monthly CI briefings and ad-hoc competitive alerts; aggregate field-sourced intelligence and triangulate against secondary data.
  • Identify and surface competitive risks and opportunities that may impact commercial strategy.

Cross-Functional Partnership
  • Serve as the organization's data, analytics, and insights subject-matter expert and primary point of contact across Commercial, Supply, Clinical, Medical Affairs, Market Access, and Business Development.
  • Support forecasting, scenario modeling, business planning cycles, and launch-readiness tracking with rigorous analytics and research-based input.
  • Coordinate external vendors and research/data partners to ensure quality, consistency, and cost efficiency; drive standardization and vendor consolidation.
  • Build trusted relationships with functional leaders and serve as a strategic thought partner on measurement, research design, and prioritization.
  • Recommend and implement improvements to analytics workflows, reporting processes, and data visualization tools.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in business, statistics, data science, engineering, life sciences, or a related discipline.
  • 3 to 5 years of progressive experience in commercial analytics, data/business intelligence, market research, or competitive intelligence in biopharma, finance, or consulting.
  • Demonstrated experience building data infrastructure and reporting - including defining KPIs and performance frameworks, and managing data pipelines and field analytics.
  • High proficiency with Excel, SQL, and data visualization/BI tools (e.g., Power BI, Tableau); familiarity with CRM configuration (Salesforce/Veeva), master data management, and ETL processes.
  • Demonstrated experience designing and managing primary market research studies (qualitative and quantitative), and conducting CI monitoring, synthesis, and executive-level briefings.
  • Proficiency with secondary data sources (IQVIA, Symphony, specialty pharmacy, medical/pharmacy claims) and strong analytical skills to translate complex data into actionable insights.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with experience presenting to executive audiences, plus vendor management experience with research agencies and data providers.

Preferred Characteristics
  • Advanced degree (MBA, MPH, MS, PhD) in a relevant discipline.
  • Experience in cell and gene therapy, hematology/oncology, transplant, or rare disease commercial environments, including familiarity with the transplant center (ATC) ecosystem and BMT/cellular therapy dynamics.
  • Passion for building clean, scalable reporting infrastructure, with the ability to prioritize in a dynamic, launch-focused environment.
  • Strong project management skills, intellectual curiosity, comfort with ambiguity, and a patient-focused mindset connecting work to ultimate patient impact.
