About the Role
We are seeking a motivated SQL Developer / Database Administrator (DBA) to join our
growing IT team. This position combines application development, database management, and
data reporting support. The ideal candidate enjoys working with data and systems that drive
decision-making across the institution.
You'll collaborate with developers, analysts, and reporting staff to support mission-critical
applications and assist in maintaining the accuracy and accessibility of institutional data used for
reporting, compliance, and analytics.
Key Responsibilities
Application Development & Database Administration
• Assist in designing, coding, testing, and maintaining web and database applications.
• Write and optimize complex SQL queries, stored procedures, and functions to support both applications and reporting.
• Monitor and maintain database performance, availability, and security (Oracle, SQL Server).
• Perform data imports and exports processes for institutional data needs.
• Help identify and resolve application and database performance issues.
• Support integration between systems and third-party applications.
• Utilize version control tools such as Azure DevOps or Git to manage and track code changes.
• Participate in code reviews, change control, and deployment processes. Institutional Reporting Support
• Assist in preparing, validating, and delivering data for institutional, state, and federal r eporting.
• Work with the Institutional Research team to ensure data integrity across systems.
• Develop and maintain queries, views, and datasets used in recurring crystal reports.
• Support automation and process improvement efforts in data collection and reporting.
• Ensure data is handled securely and consistently with institutional policies and privacy regulations.
Qualifications
Required:
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Analytics, or a related field; or equivalent experience.
• 1-3 years of experience in software development, database management, or data reporting.
Proficiency in SQL (Oracle, SQL Server).
• Familiarity with one or more programming languages (C#, Python, JavaScript, etc.).
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical users.
• Attention to detail and commitment to data accuracy.
Preferred:
• Experience supporting Institutional Research or data reporting functions.
• Experience with Oracle Database (PL/SQL, schema management, performance tuning).
• Familiarity with .NET, ASPX/ASPX.NET, or similar development frameworks.
• Knowledge of data governance, FERPA, or higher education data standards (IPEDS, state reporting, etc.).
