Senior Oracle Database Administrator (Exadata)

Job Description

The primary responsibility of this role is to design, implement, administer, and support highly available Oracle database platforms across on-premises and hybrid cloud environments. The role will focus on Oracle Exadata, OEM, OCI, RAC, Data Guard, ASM, Recovery Appliance (ZDLRA), and related Oracle technologies to ensure optimal performance, resiliency, security, and scalability of enterprise database systems.

This is an Individual Contributor role requiring collaboration with infrastructure, application, cloud, and enterprise architecture teams to engineer and support mission-critical Oracle database platforms while driving modernization and migration from legacy systems.

What You''ll Be Doing

  • Design, implement, and support Oracle database environments on Exadata, OCI, and hybrid cloud platforms.
  • Partner with Data Architects, Data Engineering, and Application teams to design, review, and optimize logical and physical data models, ensuring scalability, performance, data integrity, and alignment with enterprise data standards.
  • Administer Oracle Exadata, RAC, ASM, Data Guard, ZDLRA, and Oracle Enterprise Manager environments.
  • Ensure high availability, disaster recovery, security, and performance of Oracle databases.
  • Lead Oracle database migrations, upgrades, consolidations, and cloud transformation initiatives.
  • Support and optimize Oracle Exadata environments, both on-premises and cloud-based.
  • Perform Exadata database patching, performance tuning, capacity planning, and proactive health monitoring.
  • Develop and maintain backup, recovery, and disaster recovery strategies.
  • Troubleshoot complex Oracle database and infrastructure issues including level 4 OEM.
  • Act as Level 3 support for critical production incidents and perform root cause analysis.
  • Collaborate with application teams, architects, and business stakeholders on database-related projects.
  • Automate routine database administration tasks using Shell scripting, Python, Ansible, or similar tools.
  • Implement database security standards, patching, vulnerability remediation, and compliance requirements.
  • Maintain database documentation, standards, operational procedures, and architecture diagrams.
  • Mentor junior DBAs and provide technical leadership on Oracle technologies.
  • Support internal and external audit requirements, including SOX and compliance initiatives.

What You Bring

  • Bachelor''s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field.
  • 10+ years of Oracle Database Administration experience in enterprise environments.
  • 5+ years of hands-on experience with Oracle Exadata administration and support.
  • Extensive experience with Oracle RAC, Data Guard, ASM, RMAN, GoldenGate, and Oracle Enterprise Manager.
  • Experience managing Oracle databases on Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) and hybrid cloud platforms.
  • Strong knowledge of Oracle database architecture, performance tuning, backup and recovery, and high-availability solutions.
  • Experience with Oracle database upgrades, migrations, patching, and database lifecycle management.
  • Proficiency in SQL, PL/SQL, Unix/Linux administration, and shell scripting.
  • Experience supporting mission-critical databases requiring 24x7 availability.
  • Strong understanding of database security, encryption, auditing, and compliance requirements.
  • Experience with automation and Infrastructure as Code concepts.
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Oracle Certified Professional (OCP) or Oracle Certified Master (OCM).
  • Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) Certification.
  • Experience with Exadata Cloud Service and Autonomous Database.
  • Experience with Snowflake, AWS and Azure cloud platforms.
  • Knowledge of PostgreSQL and other enterprise database technologies.
  • Experience with SOX, SOC, and audit compliance processes.
