Job description

Job Summary
We are seeking a Cloud Database Engineer to design, implement, support, and optimize cloud-based database platforms across operational and analytical workloads. The ideal candidate will have strong expertise in AWS database technologies, cloud database architecture, replication and migration solutions, automation, and database performance optimization. This role will work closely with application teams, data engineers, and platform services teams to deliver highly available, scalable, secure, and resilient database solutions.
Key Responsibilities
• Design, deploy, and manage cloud-based database solutions within AWS environments.
• Ensure database platforms meet requirements for availability, scalability, performance, reliability, and security.
• Provide operational support for Oracle RDS, Amazon Aurora PostgreSQL, and DynamoDB environments.
• Perform database performance tuning, capacity planning, monitoring, and incident management activities.
• Implement and manage data replication and migration solutions using AWS Database Migration Service (DMS) and Oracle GoldenGate.
• Support data modernization initiatives through reliable data movement and synchronization processes.
• Collaborate with data platform teams to support analytical workloads and data warehouse environments.
• Work with application development and data engineering teams to onboard, optimize, and support database solutions.
• Develop and maintain automation for database provisioning, patching, monitoring, backup, recovery, and failover processes.
• Utilize Infrastructure as Code (IaC) and scripting tools to improve operational efficiency and consistency.
• Ensure compliance with enterprise security, governance, and data protection requirements.
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives focused on database reliability, resiliency, performance, and cost optimization.
• Support disaster recovery planning, cross-region replication strategies, and high-availability architectures.
• Troubleshoot complex database performance and operational issues across production environments.
• Participate in database architecture reviews and cloud platform modernization initiatives.
Required Qualifications
• 6-8+ years of experience performing Oracle 12c and Oracle 19c database administration.
• 3-5 years of experience supporting enterprise cloud database initiatives.
• Strong experience with AWS database services, including Oracle RDS, Amazon Aurora PostgreSQL, and DynamoDB.
• Hands-on experience with AWS Database Migration Service (DMS).
• Hands-on experience with Oracle GoldenGate replication and migration technologies.
• Strong experience with cloud database architecture, administration, and operations.
• Experience with database performance tuning, monitoring, troubleshooting, and optimization.
• Strong understanding of database internals, query optimization, and performance analysis.
• Experience supporting multi-region architectures, disaster recovery strategies, and high-availability solutions.
• Experience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC), automation tools, and scripting technologies such as Terraform and Python.
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines and deployment automation practices.
• Strong understanding of database security, governance, backup, recovery, and compliance requirements.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and troubleshooting skills.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills with cross-functional technical teams.
Preferred Qualifications
• Experience supporting Snowflake data platform environments.
• Experience supporting analytical databases, data warehouses, and modern data platforms.
• Experience working with large-scale cloud transformation and modernization initiatives.
• Knowledge of cloud cost optimization strategies and operational best practices.
• Experience supporting enterprise production environments with stringent availability requirements.
• Familiarity with modern DevOps and Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) practices.
