Meyer Distributing is looking for a Junior Database Developer to join our Indianapolis, IN team - we are hiring immediately! Meyer Distributing is a leader in automotive specialty products marketing and warehouse distribution.
Education/Certification(s):
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, Information technology or a related field
  • Prefer certifications such as Microsoft Certified: Azure Database Administrator Associate, Oracle Certified Professional

Requirements for Database Developer:
  • Minimum of 3 to 5 years of experience as a Database Administrator or in a related IT role
  • Proficiency in SQL and experience with relational databases such as Microsoft SQL Server, Oracle, MySQL, or PostgreSQL
  • Experience with database performance tuning, indexing, query optimization, and high-availability configurations
  • Strong understanding of database security, backup strategies, and disaster recovery planning
  • Familiarity with cloud database platforms (e.g., AWS RDS, Azure SQL Database, Google Clous SQL) is a plus
  • Experience with scripting languages such as PowerShell, Python, or Bash for automation tasks
  • Ability to design and implement database solutions that support business intelligence, reporting and data analytics

Schedule: Monday through Friday from 8am to 5pm
Database Developer duties include but are not limited to:
  • Install, configure, and maintain database management systems (DBMS) such as SQL Server, Oracle, MySQL, or others as required
  • Monitor database performance, optimize queries, and ensure high availability and reliability
  • Perform regular database backups, recovery and disaster recovery testing to ensure data integrity and business continuity backup and recovery strategies to safeguard data integrity and minimize downtime.
  • Develop, implement and maintain database security policies and practices to protect sensitive data and ensure compliance with data protection regulations
  • Conduct database tuning, capacity planning, and performance planning and performance analysis to ensure optimal operation of database systems
  • Troubleshoot database issues, including performance problems, and provide timely resolution to minimize downtime
  • Collaborate with development teams to design and to optimize database structures, queries, and stored procedures for application support
  • Ensure that database systems are running their latest patches and upgrades to maintain security and functionality
  • Create and maintain database documentation, including schema diagrams, configuration settings, and maintenance procedures
  • Collaborate with other IT teams to plan, implement, and support new database- related technologies and innovations
