Job description

Meta's Enterprise Engineering team is responsible for building integrated, scalable, and robust enterprise applications. We are looking for an Application Manager with demonstrated ability to design and execute products and solutions that power the enterprise.As a member of this team, you will work with Tax teams to deliver Tax Management Applications or custom-built solutions to improve operational efficiency, consistency, and compliance in support of business objectives.
Application Manager, Tax Responsibilities:
  • Support, provide subject matter expertise for Vertex and Oracle Fusion Tax
  • Leverage Meta's Tax System to support eCommerce, Billing and Procurement processes and applications
  • Support Tax, Accounting, Audit and Finance teams during period close and audits
  • Manage and maintain Vertex and Fusion Tax related configuration, including Vertex Accelerator and Fusion Localizations
  • Define, instrument and track relevant product goals and success metrics to continually measure and uphold high quality solutions
  • Define strategy and manage Tax systems roadmap aligned with business and company objectives
  • Actively work with Tax and Cross Functional Teams to align product strategy, and influence Tax Systems roadmaps
  • Design, build and deliver scalable tax processes and solutions. Translate business requirements into product capabilities to scale global tax processes
  • Work with product design and engineering teams to prototype, design and build products on Meta’s internal tech stack
  • Lead and assist in managing Tax technology projects
  • Define and automate processes to monitor Tax Applications, integrations, internal products, and vendor applications to ensure that systems are operating properly
  • Onboard and participate in new legal entities, products and business processes launches for ensuring Tax requirements are supported by Tax Applications
  • Develop and maintain a well-coordinated internal relationship with key decision makers and with the wider enterprise engineering organization

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, relevant technical field, or equivalent practical experience
  • 5+ years hands-on experience with configuring, implementing and scaling Tax Applications including tax calculation and reporting
  • In-depth knowledge of Vertex product footprint and technology architecture
  • In-depth knowledge of Fusion Tax product footprint and technology architecture
  • Subject matter expert in Tax Management Application
  • Experience in integrating Tax applications with in-house and third party products (e.g.: Shopify, e-Bay, Amazon or New Store POS)
  • Experience visualizing the big picture impact of enterprise structure changes on Tax end to end processes
  • Domain knowledge of end to end business flows related to tax: e-Commerce, Procure to Pay, Order to Cash, Intercompany and Subscription Management
  • Demonstrated ability to navigate complex business problems independently
  • Ability to collaborate with and influence cross-functional teams on process optimization, guiding business partners and internal stakeholders towards sound product and process decisions
  • Product management mindset and experience to leverage data to prioritize and solve business problems
  • Understanding of Vertex and Fusion Tax integration capabilities (web service / APIs) for ERP or other 3P integrations
  • Knowledge on writing SQL scripts in Oracle and MySQL databases
  • Experience with IT and tax audits

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience adhering to and implementing responsible, ethical AI practices (e.g., risk assessment, bias mitigation, quality and accuracy reviews)
  • Demonstrated ongoing AI skill development (e.g., prompt/context engineering, agent orchestration) and staying current with emerging AI technologies
  • Demonstrated ability to integrate AI tools to optimize/redesign workflows and drive measurable impact
  • Experience with license management (policies and procedures) around enterprise software
  • Experience with workflow automation and RPA tools (e.g., Alteryx)
  • Demonstrated ability to integrate AI tools to optimize/redesign workflows and drive measurable impact (e.g., efficiency gains, quality improvements)
  • Experience delivering multiple end-to-end implementations
  • Understanding of design and use of web services & related standards (REST, SOAP, XML, JSON)
  • Vertex or Fusion-related certification
