Overview:

We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Materials Manager to provide leadership in Supply Chain Management for our manufacturing location. The successful candidate will have a background in Aerospace or extensive experience in manufacturing. This role will oversee the materials planning, scheduling, inventory control, cash flow management, and asset management functions within the organization.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead Procurement & Materials Management: Oversee order placement, supplier evaluation/certification, price negotiation, and ensure compliance with government procurement regulations.
  • Production Planning: Responsible for manufacturing resource planning, helping to achieve sales and RONA objectives while ensuring 100% on-time customer deliveries.
  • Matrix Management: Manage personnel involved in MRP database functions to maintain data accuracy and integrity.
  • Material Flow Optimization: Define and implement automated systems to support a supply chain management strategy and track material flow from procurement to delivery.
  • Policy Consistency: Ensure material management policies align with the company’s inventory control objectives.
  • Supplier Initiatives: Facilitate supplier-managed inventory, supplier reduction, and supplier quality certifications.
  • Audit Compliance: Support internal/external audit requirements related to planning, procurement, or inventory functions.
  • Budget Management: Prepare and manage the department's budget in line with established guidelines.
  • Cost Reduction: Lead material and system cost reduction programs to enhance procurement efficiency.
  • Team Development: Provide professional development opportunities for all materials team members and support company policies and procedures.
  • Lean Implementation: Actively support and implement lean principles, including kanban and MRP techniques.

Qualifications:

  • Experience: Minimum of 5 years in purchasing/materials management in a high-volume manufacturing environment. Aerospace background preferred, but manufacturing experience will be considered with significant experience.
  • Education: A four-year degree in business, engineering, or materials management required. Certification in materials management and quality preferred.
  • Technical Skills: Familiarity with state-of-the-art materials management systems (JIT, MRPII, APICS/CPM certification preferred), along with strong analytical and technical skills.
  • Communication: Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills for effective interaction with internal and external contacts.
  • Software Skills: Working knowledge of Microsoft PC software (e.g., spreadsheets, word processing, databases, presentations).
