Job description

Overview
The Community Services Coordinator serves as a Child Passenger Safety Technician (CPST) and is responsible for promoting child passenger safety through education, hands-on support, and community collaboration. This role focuses on educating families and caregivers on best practices for car seat use, inspecting and installing child restraint systems, and coordinating outreach with community partners to ensure families have access to safe transportation for children.

Responsibilities
  • Educate families, caregivers, and community members on best practices for child passenger safety, including age-appropriate car seat selection, placement, and use.
  • Provide hands-on education and demonstrations to caregivers on the correct installation and usage of child restraint systems.
  • Properly install child safety seats during scheduled curbside appointments and community-based events.
  • Work collaboratively with referring community partners (e.g., healthcare providers, social service agencies, schools, and law enforcement) to assess and address child passenger safety needs of families.
  • Serve as a resource to community organizations regarding child passenger safety standards and local safety initiatives.
  • Stay current with child passenger safety laws, best practices, and manufacturer guidelines.

Qualifications
Education: HS diploma or equivalent required
License(s)/Certification(s): Current certification as a Child Passenger Safety Technician (CPST)
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively with families from diverse backgrounds.
  • Ability to provide hands-on instruction and adapt teaching approaches to meet individual caregiver needs.
