• Working Location: San Francisco, CA
• Working style: On-site

• Salary: DOE (approximately $25-30 per hr)
• What will you do:
The Assistant Store Manager supports the Store Manager in daily store operations. This role includes supervising and training staff, ensuring excellent customer service, and assisting with administrative and management duties. The Assistant Store Manager helps ensure the store operates smoothly and follows company policies and goals. When the Store Manager is absent, this position assumes full responsibility for store operations.
Store Operations & Customer Service
• Train employees on company service standards, products, and procedures
• Maintain a welcoming, friendly, and professional store environment
• Address customer needs, questions, and complaints promptly and respectfully
• Resolve customer issues with honesty and integrity
• Assist the Customer Service Center (CSC) when needed
• Act as Store Manager in their absence
Staff Supervision & Development
• Assign daily tasks to staff to improve efficiency and reduce customer wait times
• Support employee satisfaction, teamwork, and professional growth
• Help resolve staff concerns and recognize strong performance
• Work with management to maintain store appearance and product displays
• Conduct meetings to communicate policies, goals, and updates
• Enforce company policies related to safety, conduct, and service standards
• Create employee schedules based on business needs and availability
• Ensure staff receive proper breaks and cover the sales floor when needed
Sales, Data & Compliance Management
• Assist with daily sales reports, financial records, and timekeeping
• Maintain customer records, prescriptions, orders, and payments in compliance with privacy laws
• Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local employment and safety regulations
Additional Duties
• Assist customers with selecting, ordering, and caring for eyewear
• Take facial measurements and explain pricing, returns, and warranties
• Receive and verify inventory shipments
• Adjust, fit, and assemble eyeglasses
• Perform cashier duties
• Complete other tasks as assigned by the Store Manager
• Required Qualifications & Skills:
Education
• Associate degree in Opticianry or some postsecondary education preferred
Experience
• At least one year of retail management experience (optical industry preferred)
• At least one year of experience as an optician in a retail store or optometry office
Required Skills & Abilities
• Knowledge of retail operations and staff management
• Strong customer service and sales skills
• Ability to train, motivate, and supervise employees
• Basic math and computer skills
• Strong communication, time management, and problem-solving skills
• Ability to handle conflict and make sound decisions
• Manual dexterity and attention to detail
• Ability to operate eye exam and optical measuring equipment
