Job description

CommScope is seeking several Test Technicians at various levels for an on-site role at our Shakopee, MN facility.
This position offers growth potential with additional technician titles, each associated with increasing responsibilities.
How You'll Help Us Connect the World
The primary responsibility of this position will be to test fiber optic products per established work instructions to evaluate product performance and collect data that provides evidence of conformance to product requirements. This includes, but is not limited to the following:
  • Conduct optical, mechanical, and environmental tests of fiber optic products to assess compliance with product requirements.
  • Follow the testing schedule and provide status in the lab request system, and collect, record, analyze, and report test data utilizing Microsoft Excel and Word to analyze and report data.
  • Assist in performing failure analysis.
  • Utilize the test request system to update the test status.
  • Communicate issues in a timely manner to the test engineer.
  • Collaboration with current lab staff, which includes other test engineers and technicians, in a team-oriented environment.
  • Follow department safety and efficiency programs.
  • Participate in test equipment maintenance and validations if required.
  • Complete training on lab processes, procedures and test methods as required.
  • Familiarity with a wide range of fiber optic products or equivalent.

Required Qualifications for Consideration:
  • High school dipolma (entry level) and two or more years of technician experience
  • Associates degree and two years of experience (level 2)
  • Bachelors degree and one year of experience (level 3)
  • Solid communication skills, including excellent writing skills and fluency in English.
  • Strong computer skills with Microsoft Office.
  • Skilled at planning and able to pay attention to details.
  • Ability to effectively work within a team environment.
  • You may be required to do physical lifting of up to 40 pounds.

You Will Excite Us If You Have:
  • Experience with testing of fiber optic products per international and domestic industry standards.
  • Ability to use Microsoft Excel to analyze data using formulas and graphs.
  • Experience in a laboratory environment.

Our salary ranges consider a wide variety of factors, including but not limited to benchmarking by independent third-party consultants, skill sets, years of experience, training, education, geography, and other business needs. Depending on experience, the range can be higher for candidates with exceptional experience and a demonstrated history of successful performance. The expected salary range for this position is $57,000 - $64,000 based on hired level and experience. The candidate will be rewarded with a comprehensive benefits package, including medical, dental, and vision plans, life and accidental death insurance, a 401(k) plan, and participation in the Company's Incentive Plan. Candidates starting with the Company will be eligible for eleven paid holidays in a full calendar year, two weeks of paid vacation (prorated based on start date), as well as other leave options.
