Position Summary
Student Financial Services Technician
Department of Student Financial Services
Full-Time
The Student Financial Services (SFS) Technician position is considered a generalist position but is intended to support specific processes on a regular basis. This position will provide support to other areas within the office, as needed.
Primary Responsibilities:
  • Provide support to SFS Coordinators with the overall administration of Federal, State, and Institutional aid programs, including awarding and adjusting of aid, and maintain a high level of attention to detail
  • Provide exceptional customer service to students, parents, and outside vendors, fulfilling our customer service level agreements on accounts receivable and financial aid as it relates to student-specific criteria
  • Perform processing functions related to administering financial aid and accounts receivables. Verify the accuracy of data records within financial aid and student accounts, ensuring data processing is completed accurately and in a timely manner. Handle all information with tact and discretion, and recognize the confidential and sensitive nature of University business
  • Contribute to the Operations Team (and SFS holistically) by: communicating proactively regarding upcoming changes or challenges, brainstorming new solutions, cross-training on all functional team duties, displaying a willingness to shift duties as needed, and identifying areas of improvement
  • Assist in testing new software and upgrades on financial aid/billing systems; collaborate with Systems and Compliance Team members to maintain data integrity and compliance within all regulations; assist in developing streamlined processes
  • Maintain a comprehensive understanding of financial aid, student accounts, and billing processes

Required Qualifications
  • High school diploma or GED
  • Knowledge indicating proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office Word, Excel, and Access
  • Demonstrated ability to learn different and new technologies
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills
  • Demonstrated organizational skills and evidence of strong attention to detail
  • Evidence of math skills and the ability to analyze, reconcile, and verify the accuracy of data
  • Evidence of outstanding customer service skills
  • Ability to work in a multi-tasking environment with frequent shifts from one task to another
  • Ability to handle confidential information, exercise sound judgment, and maintain accurate records and files
