Automotive Technician - Race Support Mechanic

Part-Time or Full-Time
Compensation: $30-$45 per hour, depending on experience
Location: Mid-Willamette Valley

Join a privately owned, fully equipped shop serving both a commercial fleet and an active off-road/drag racing program. We're looking for a dependable, detail-oriented technician who enjoys a wide variety of mechanical work in a professional, low-pressure environment. Unlike traditional repair shops, there are no flat-rate hours or customer billing responsibilities.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Prepare Broncos, Jeeps, UTVs, and competition UTVs for off-road racing
  • Assist with drag boat maintenance, race preparation, and trackside support for ADBA and CDBA events
  • Remove and install engines, transmissions, and drivetrain components
  • Perform routine diagnostics, repairs, and preventive maintenance
  • Build and install braided fuel, cooling, and plumbing systems
  • Assist with fabrication tasks including fitting, grinding, and tack welding
  • Complete mechanical projects using established build plans
  • Participate in race weekends and pit crew operations as needed
Shop Features

  • Complete Snap-on tool inventory and fabrication equipment
  • ProDemand diagnostic information system
  • NAPA Car Care ProLink with OEM purchasing accounts
  • Office 365 task management with photos, notes, and deadlines for organized workflow
  • Minimal paperwork and no customer invoicing
Qualifications
  • Experience working on automotive, fleet, off-road, racing, or performance vehicles
  • Strong troubleshooting and diagnostic abilities
  • Able to work independently and stay productive without close supervision
  • Comfortable using computers for diagnostics, parts lookup, and work management
  • Organized, reliable, and takes pride in maintaining a clean workspace
  • Valid driver's license with a clean driving record
  • Part-time and full-time applicants are welcome
Benefits
  • Competitive hourly pay based on experience
  • Health insurance for full-time employees
  • Corporate profit-sharing opportunities
  • Travel expenses covered when attending race events
Additional Information

Complete engine and transmission rebuilds are handled by outside specialists. This position is centered on maintenance, race preparation, fabrication support, and completing mechanical projects rather than heavy internal engine work.
