Job description

Overview

Shift: Monday through Thursday 3:30 pm - 2:00 AM

Swing Shift Differential: Earn $3 an hour on top of your hourly rate for all hours worked

We are seeking a dependable, safety-conscious, and mechanically inclined CNC Laser Operator / Helper to support our metal fabrication operations. This position is responsible for assisting with the operation of CNC laser cutting equipment, loading and unloading sheet metal, handling finished parts, and performing secondary finishing operations such as grinding and deburring.

The ideal candidate is comfortable working in a fast-paced manufacturing environment, has basic metal shop experience, and is willing to learn CNC laser operations. This is a hands-on position that requires attention to detail, physical stamina, and a strong commitment to safety and quality.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist with the setup and operation of CNC laser cutting equipment according to work orders, drawings, and production requirements.
  • Load, position, and unload sheet metal and other materials safely and efficiently.
  • Remove, sort, identify, and organize finished parts after the cutting process.
  • Inspect cut parts for quality and report defects, damaged material, or equipment issues to the appropriate supervisor.
  • Grind, sand, deburr, and remove sharp edges from finished parts using grinders, sanders, and other hand or power tools.
  • Handle materials carefully to prevent damage to parts, equipment, and surrounding work areas.
  • Follow production schedules and communicate job status, material issues, and machine concerns as needed.
  • Assist with basic machine care and routine cleaning of the CNC laser and surrounding work area.
  • Maintain an organized and clean work environment by removing scrap, sweeping floors, and properly storing tools and materials.
  • Follow all company safety procedures, machine safety requirements, and lockout/tagout procedures as applicable.
  • Wear required personal protective equipment (PPE) at all times, including safety glasses and other designated protective equipment.
  • Assist other team members and departments with general shop duties when needed.

    Qualifications & Experience
  • Previous experience in a manufacturing, fabrication, or metal shop environment preferred.
  • Basic mechanical aptitude and willingness to learn CNC laser equipment and processes.
  • Experience using grinders, sanders, hand tools, and basic power tools preferred.
  • Ability to read basic work orders, part numbers, measurements, and fabrication drawings.
  • Basic understanding of sheet metal handling and metal fabrication processes is preferred.
  • Ability to follow written and verbal instructions accurately.
