Job description

Position Summary

The Feed Operations Generalist supports the daily operations of the feed division by assisting with administrative, operational, customer service, inventory, quality, safety, and compliance functions. This position serves as a versatile team member who helps ensure efficient feed manufacturing and delivery operations while supporting excellent customer service and regulatory compliance.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Operations Support

  • Assist with daily feed office and operational activities.
  • Coordinate and process feed orders, deliveries, and customer requests.
  • Support inventory management, product movement tracking, and record keeping.
  • Maintain accurate operational records and reports.
  • Communicate with feed mill personnel, drivers, vendors, and customers regarding order status and logistical needs.

Customer Service

  • Resolve routine customer concerns in a professional and timely manner.
  • Maintain positive customer relationships through effective communication and follow-up.

Quality, Safety, and Compliance

  • Assist in maintaining feed quality standards and food safety programs.
  • Support implementation of HACCP, GMP, and regulatory compliance requirements.
  • Maintain documentation required for audits, inspections, and compliance programs.
  • Participate in safety training, meetings, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Assist with corrective actions and follow-up on quality and safety observations.

Administrative Functions

  • Prepare reports, spreadsheets, and operational documentation.
  • Maintain data entry and records within company software systems.
  • Support billing, inventory reconciliation, and purchasing processes.
  • Organize and maintain files related to operations, safety, and compliance activities.

Team Support

  • Provide backup support for other feed operations team members.
  • Assist with special projects and process improvement initiatives.
  • Collaborate across locations and departments to ensure operational efficiency.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma required; associate's or bachelor's degree preferred.
  • Experience in agriculture, feed manufacturing, grain, livestock, or cooperative operations preferred.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Excel and Outlook.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and adapt to changing business needs.
