Job description

Job Title: Lead Industrial & Operations Research Engineer
Role Overview
We are seeking a Lead Industrial & Operations Research Engineer to join our systems optimization team. You will be the architect of our efficiency initiatives, using advanced analytical techniques to solve complex operational challenges. From mapping intricate process flows to building predictive models that determine optimal capacity, you will provide the data-driven insights that guide our most critical business decisions.
This is a high-impact role for an engineer who excels at bridging the gap between raw data and actionable strategy. You will spend your time both in the field-collecting data and observing frontline operations-and at your desk, applying mathematical modeling, queuing theory, and simulation to engineer systemic improvements.
Key Responsibilities
Systems Engineering & Optimization (40%)
• Methodological Leadership: Apply comprehensive Industrial Engineering (IE) and Operations Research (OR) principles to departmental projects. Utilize unique analytical techniques-including probability and statistics, process flow analysis, queuing theory, and mathematical optimization-to identify root causes and design robust, scalable solutions.
• Institutionalize Change: Own the process of engineering, implementing, and institutionalizing systemic changes that improve operational performance and efficiency.
Data Analysis & Modeling (35%)
• Data Synthesis: Extract insights from complex datasets using advanced querying tools. Lead field data collection studies to ground your models in real-world observations.
• Sophisticated Modeling: Conduct computer simulations and statistical modeling to stress-test our current operations and simulate "what-if" scenarios for future operational states.
Strategic Communication (25%)
• Executive Advocacy: Develop compelling business cases and data-rich presentations. You must be able to translate complex mathematical outcomes into intuitive insights for everyone from frontline stakeholders to senior executive leadership.
Qualifications & Requirements
Minimum Qualifications
• Education: Bachelor's degree in Industrial Engineering, Operations Research, Management Science, or a closely related quantitative field.
• Experience Baseline: Minimum of three (3) years of applied experience in industrial engineering or operational analysis.
• Field Proficiency: Proven ability to conduct field studies/data collection in active operational environments.
• Technical Mastery: Strong command of spreadsheet modeling, database querying, and statistical analysis software.
Preferred Attributes
• Advanced Degree: Master's degree in Industrial Engineering, Operations Research, or a related field.
• Tooling Proficiency: Knowledge of data programming languages (e.g., Python, SQL) and visualization tools (e.g., Power BI). Familiarity with statistical software (e.g., R, SPSS).
• Operational Adaptability: Experience performing analyses for large-scale, high-demand operational venues where capacity and throughput are critical.
• Resilience: A willingness to support a 24/7/365 operation, including high-demand periods (weekends/holidays) to observe systems during peak performance.
