Description
At Oceans Behavioral Hospital Greater New Orleans, healing is our focus. We are passionate about helping adults and seniors manage the challenges associated with anxiety, depression and other mental health issues. Utilizing proven, innovative and progressive therapies, our qualified professionals strive to promote long-term wellness through a range of inpatient and outpatient psychiatric counseling and treatment options.
The Manager, Clinical Program Inpatient ensures that all operations and programing in the inpatient clinical department operate efficiently and professionally while providing a high standard of patient satisfaction. This position monitors care coordination and quality of care to identify areas for improvement. The Manager, Clinical Program oversees the work performance of all assigned clinical staff. This role is responsible for ensuring the clinical documentation is current and accurate and meets all regulatory requirements. This position is responsible for overall coordination of school, work, or case management information for patients. Reports to the Director of Clinical Services. This ensures programs are compliant with all laws, rules, and regulations of federal and state licensing agencies, as well as TJC standards for quality care.
Essential Functions:
  1. Provide oversight and mentorship to therapy staff, including performance evaluations and corrective action as needed.
  2. Communicate regularly with the Director, Clinical Services regarding programming, staffing, and clinical concerns.
  3. Conduct and oversee chart audits, ensuring compliance with treatment and regulatory requirements.
  4. Monitor quality assurance, patient satisfaction data, and regulatory compliance to maintain program effectiveness.
  5. Maintain positive relationships with referral sources, community agencies, and organizations.
  6. Collaborate with the Medical Director and interdisciplinary team to address clinical concerns and optimize treatment programs.
  7. Ensure all therapy interventions (individual, group, and family) are conducted and documented per clinical standards.
  8. Supervise therapist adherence to required assessments and patient treatment planning.
  9. Assist with therapist scheduling and coverage to meet staffing needs.
  10. Conduct individual, group, and family therapy sessions and contribute to the development of group programming.
  11. Oversee appropriate and timely discharge, transition, and after-care planning for patients.
  12. Demonstrate crisis intervention skills and assist the team in ensuring patient safety.
  13. Performs other duties as assigned by leadership.

Requirements
Education / Experience:
  • Master's degree from an accredited school of social work or is qualified by education and experience in the social services needs of patients with psychiatric and substance use issues.
  • Knowledge of psychiatric and chemical dependency treatment principles required. Previous experience in an inpatient hospital program preferred.
  • Current unencumbered clinical social work or counseling license as required by state.

  • Excellent assertive communication skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to foster cooperation across departmental lines and manage information, environmental, and fiscal resources to accomplish goals.
  • Good writing and composition skills.
  • Able to organize and prioritize high volume workload.
  • Able to function with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to maintain overall good work attitude and interact cooperatively and professionally with other staff members.
  • Possess basic competency in age, disability, and cultural diversity needs of patients served and ability to relate to patients in a manner sensitive to those needs.
  • Communicates in an age/disability related manner to patients and patients' families.
  • Must successfully complete a Basic Life Saving (BLS) course and an Oceans approved deescalation program.

Work Environment:
Subject to many interruptions. Occasional pressure due to multiple calls and inquiries. This position can be high paced and stressful; must be able to cope mentally and physically to atmosphere. Work requires
spending approximately 90% or more of the time inside a building that offers protection from weather conditions but not necessarily from temperature changes.
