Summary/Objective

The Regional Operations Manager is responsible for the strategic oversight and operational performance of a group of warehouse locations within a defined region. This role leads and develops a team consisting of Warehouse Managers to ensure consistent execution of company standards, safety protocols, and operational excellence. The Regional Operations Manager is accountable for maintaining and improving Standard Operating Procedures, driving process excellence, and ensuring accuracy, efficiency, and safety across all sites. Through scheduled and unscheduled site visits, data-driven performance management, and leadership development, this position plays a critical role in achieving organizational goals and continuous improvement.

Essential Duties/Responsibilities:

Operations Performance and Management:

  • Oversee the operational performance of warehouse facilities, ensuring alignment with company goals, service standards, and efficiency targets.
  • Monitor and analyze operational performance across all branch locations, driving root cause analysis and corrective action plans to improve inventory accuracy and order quality.
  • Conduct no fewer than three site visits annually at each warehouse location, including at least one unannounced visit, to assess operational compliance, team effectiveness, and facility conditions.
  • Evaluate site performance through KPIs, audits, and on-site observations; identify opportunities for continuous improvement and operational optimization.

Strategic Planning and Development:

  • Contribute to short and long-term organizational planning and strategy on a Branch and Regional level.
  • Develop and implement standardized work for warehouse leadership, ensuring consistency in daily operations, reporting, and team management practices.
  • Establish and maintain consistent standards of operations (SOP documentation) across the region to ensure proper financial controls, customer service processes, loss prevention and transactional management.

Safety and Compliance:

  • Ensure consistent execution and adherence to the safety program and policies; including but not limited to overseeing compliance with quarterly safety audits conducted by Warehouse Managers; review findings, identify trends, and implement corrective actions to maintain a safe work environment.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, regulatory requirements, and safety standards at all locations.

Leadership and Team Development:

  • Provide leadership, coaching and employee performance development across the regional operations team within branch locations.
  • Manage and supervise all direct staff and provide oversight on all indirect staff and employee relations activities.
  • Establish and reinforce structured team communication cadence, including standardized team huddles to improve alignment, engagement, and operational awareness.
  • Partners with executive leadership and corporate teams to select operating locations, new facility construction or expansion, and longer-term real estate planning.
  • Partner with cross-functional teams to implement process improvements, support strategic initiatives, and ensure successful project execution across the region.

Work Environment:

  • This position operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers and phones.
  • This position will also travel and need to operate in warehouse locations. Environments are often uncontrolled temperatures and works around moving equipment.

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to stand and walk; Ability to sit for long periods of time at a desk. Frequent use of hands to operate the computer and phone; must be able to have the ability to occasionally lift office products and supplies, up to 25lbs.
  • The position at times will need to be work in warehouse branch and distribution locations where walking, extended standing, stooping and bending will be required and may be required lift unassisted up to 40lbs.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work:

  • This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
  • Due to the needs of the operation teams and business this position maybe required to work outside their normal schedule to support operations.

Travel:

  • This position is required to travel on a frequent basis to support our regional branch locations that fall under the position’s direct supervision. This position will occasionally be required to travel to branch locations outside of their supervision to support operation initiatives.

Required Education and Experience:

  • Minimum bachelor’s degree in business, supply chain management, logistics, or related field; or combined associate’s degree with a minimum of 7 years of experience in operations management positions.
  • Minimum of 8 years’ experience of relative operational management experience in a multi-site distribution, wholesale, or industrial supply environments with a proven track record of budget oversight, large team leadership and management, strategic planning and development and operational process excellence.
  • Proven experience and training in areas of continuous improvement; including but not limited to lean or six sigma methodologies.

Preferred Education and Experience:

  • P&L management and budgeting experience preferred
  • Fleet/transportation management and DOT regulation experience preferred
  • Safety and facility management and compliance experience preferred
