Job description

JOB SUMMARY:Directs and manages all accounting and IT functions for the Iowa plant. Also provides internal financial and operational information to the DCB Corporate and Plant Management for management review and decision making.
PRINCIPLE DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Responsible for all financial controls in the plant, especially inventory and material movement and handling procedures and systems.
  • Oversees plant IT activities including QAD system
  • Responsible for management and formulation of plant inventory standard costs.
  • Reviews and prepares monthly financial statements for Iowa facility.
  • Provides review and analysis of operations and plant performance objectives for Iowa facility.
  • Prepares, reviews and provides explanation for various internal financial and management reports.
  • Assists in interim and annual audits.
  • Maintains and updates standard costs, bills of material, purchase price variances, operational variances and other cost accounting reports.
  • Maintains and updates various management reports, e.g. waste and losses.
  • Applies accounting knowledge, principles and techniques to systematically record, present, interpret financial data.
  • Involved in preparation of audit procedures and budgets. Enters, retrieves, updates and processes financial data by computer system.
  • Works with confidential information and data that would be sensitive or damaging to individuals or the company if not safeguarded.
  • Directs and oversees month-end and year-end financial activity for this plant in a timely manner.
  • Collects data to determine costs of business activity such as new material purchases, inventory and labor.
  • Analyzes data obtained and records results.
  • Analyzes actual manufacturing costs and prepares periodic reports comparing standard costs to actual production costs.
  • Records cost information for use in controlling expenditures.
  • Compiles cost information to be used in operating budget preparation.
  • Assists in the development and installation of cost accounting systems.
  • Coordinates, reviews, and assists in the development of new procedures used for continuous improvement of material inventory levels.
  • Develop and create new product costings.
  • Oversee and directs annual physical inventory.
  • Prepare and submit state and federal government documentation.

  • Strong ability and experience in standard cost systems.
  • Routine use of office equipment.
  • Proficient with spread sheet software, charts and graphs.
  • Ability to learn procedures for writing queries to extract information from data systems.
  • Familiarity with word processing software.
  • Familiarity with legal terminology

  • Must have valid driver's license

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  • Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from four-year college or university and 5+years related experience and/or training in manufacturing environment with emphasis on both cost and general financial accounting.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
  • Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
  • Ability to apply advanced mathematical concepts such as exponents, logarithms, quadratic equations, and permutations.
  • Ability to apply mathematical operations to such tasks as frequency distribution, determination of test reliability and validity, analysis of variance, correlation techniques, sampling theory, and factor analysis.
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
  • Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
