Job description

Summary:
This role is accountable for the overall performance of the manufacturing site and is responsible for the day-to-day plant operations including safety, quality, productivity, delivery, cost, labor management, and continuous improvement. This role partners closely with union leadership and ensures compliance with the collective bargaining agreement while building a culture focused on operational excellence, employee engagement, and customer satisfaction
Essential Functions:
  • Lead a strong safety culture focused on zero incidents and full regulatory compliance.
  • Manage daily manufacturing operations to meet production, quality, delivery, and cost targets. Drive continuous improvement in productivity, yield, scrap, uptime, and cycle time.
  • Own site operating budget and cost performance, including labor, overtime, scrap, and operating expenses. Drive cost-reduction initiatives in partnership with cross-functional teams
  • Partner with Maintenance to ensure equipment reliability, preventive maintenance, and capital planning.
  • Champion quality systems and structured root cause analysis to prevent recurrence of defects. Implement and sustain Lean manufacturing practices (e.g., 5S, standard work, Kaizen).
  • Lead within a unionized workforce, administer the collective bargaining agreement, and support positive labor relations. Coach and develop supervisors to ensure consistent leadership, fair policy application, and strong shop-floor execution. Support grievance resolution through fact-based investigations and timely follow-up.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Business, Operations or other related field. May consider equivalent work experience in lieu of degree
  • 6+ years of manufacturing operations leadership experience
  • Strong knowledge of safety systems, production management, and continuous improvement.
  • Proven ability to develop teams, influence across functions, and drive results.
  • Demonstrated experience leading in a unionized manufacturing setting preferred.
