Job description

Position Summary:


We are seeking a driven and hands on operations manager โ€“ Trailer Division, to lead the day to day operations and continued growth of our trailer business.

This position will be responsible for maximizing fleet utilization, coordinating trailer movements and availability, ensuring a high level of customer service, and identifying opportunities to grow the division.

The ideal candidate is highly organized, commercially minded, comfortable working in a fast paced operational environment, and takes ownership of results.


Key Responsibilities:


Operations & Fleet Management

  • Oversee the daily operations of the trailer division.
  • Manage trailer availability, allocation, movement, and utilization.
  • Ensure trailers are positioned where they are needed to meet customer demand.
  • Monitor fleet utilization and identify underutilized assets and opportunities to improve performance.
  • Coordinate trailer pickups, deliveries, returns, and customer requirements.
  • Maintain accurate visibility of fleet status and availability.
  • Work closely with internal departments to resolve operational issues quickly.
  • Ensure equipment is available, presentable, and ready for customer use.


Growth & Business Performance:

  • Take ownership of the growth and overall performance of the Trailer Division.
  • Identify opportunities to increase fleet utilization and generate additional revenue.
  • Develop relationships with existing customers and identify opportunities to expand their business with us.
  • Support the acquisition and onboarding of new customers.
  • Monitor market demand and recommend opportunities to expand or reposition the trailer fleet.
  • Track key performance indicators including utilization, revenue, downtime, customer activity, and operational efficiency.
  • Provide management with regular updates on division performance, challenges, and growth opportunities.


Team Leadership:

  • Lead and manage the operations/dispatch team.
  • Establish clear responsibilities, priorities, and performance expectations.
  • Coach employees and hold the team accountable for results.
  • Build efficient processes that allow the division to scale as the business grows.
  • Promote a culture of ownership, urgency, teamwork, and customer service.


Customer Service:

  • Serve as a key operational contact for trailer customers.
  • Ensure customer requests and operational issues are handled quickly and professionally.
  • Build strong relationships with customers and understand their current and future trailer requirements.
  • Proactively address service issues before they affect the customer relationship.


Qualifications:

  • Previous experience in transportation, trucking, trailers, fleet management, logistics, equipment rental, or a related industry.
  • Experience managing fleet operations and asset utilization is strongly preferred.
  • Previous supervisory or management experience.
  • Strong organizational and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple operational priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong communication and customer service skills.
  • Commercial mindset with an understanding of how operational decisions affect revenue and profitability.
  • Comfortable working with operational systems, reporting tools, and Microsoft Office.
  • Ability to work independently and take ownership of the division.
  • Fluency in French, both written and spoken, is required.
  • Strong proficiency in English, both written and spoken, to communicate effectively with English-speaking customers and business partners when required.

Opรฉrations et gestion de flotte:

  • Superviser les opรฉrations quotidiennes de la Division Remorques.
  • Gรฉrer la disponibilitรฉ, lโ€™affectation, les dรฉplacements et lโ€™utilisation des remorques.
  • Veiller ร  ce que les remorques soient positionnรฉes aux endroits requis afin de rรฉpondre ร  la demande des clients.
