Job description

Maple Leaf Farms is seeking a dedicated and experienced Poultry Farm Manager to oversee our broiler chicken operation in rural Manitoba. The successful candidate will be responsible for all aspects of farm management, ensuring the health, welfare, and productivity of our flocks. This role demands a hands-on approach and a deep understanding of poultry husbandry.

Responsibilities:

  • Daily monitoring of bird health, behavior, and environmental conditions.
  • Managing feed and water supply, ensuring optimal nutrition and hydration.
  • Implementing and maintaining biosecurity protocols to prevent disease outbreaks.
  • Supervising and training farm staff, including scheduling and performance management.
  • Maintaining accurate records of flock performance, feed consumption, and mortality rates.
  • Coordinating with veterinarians and other specialists as needed.
  • Overseeing maintenance of farm equipment and infrastructure.
  • Ensuring compliance with all relevant regulations and industry best practices.
  • Budgeting for the operation.
  • Participating in planning and development of the Poultry operations and new infrastructure.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in broiler chicken farming.
  • Proven ability to manage a large-scale poultry operation.
  • Strong understanding of poultry health, nutrition, and welfare.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Valid driver's license.
  • Physically fit and able to perform manual labor in varying weather conditions.
  • BSc in Agriculture or related field is preferred
