Our client, a highly successful and growing leader in the Industrial Distribution and Manufacturing sector, is seeking an Operations Manager to lead the day-to-day operations of their London facility. This is a highly visible leadership role responsible for ensuring operational excellence across warehouse operations, inventory management, purchasing, customer service, logistics, and overall business execution.
Reporting directly to senior leadership, the Operations Manager will be responsible for optimizing processes, improving productivity, developing employees, and ensuring exceptional customer service while supporting the organization's continued growth. This individual will serve as the operational leader of the facility, bringing a continuous improvement mindset and a passion for building efficient, scalable operations.
Key Responsibilities:
Operational Excellence
  • Lead the day-to-day operations of the facility, ensuring safe, efficient, and customer-focused execution.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives focused on productivity, quality, workflow optimization, and operational efficiency.
  • Identify opportunities to streamline processes, eliminate waste, and improve overall operational performance.
  • Develop, monitor, and report on key operational metrics including inventory accuracy, order fulfillment, on-time delivery, productivity, and customer satisfaction.
  • Establish and maintain standardized operating procedures and best practices across the operation.
  • Promote a culture of accountability, teamwork, safety, and continuous improvement.
Inventory, Warehouse & Supply Chain:
  • Oversee warehouse operations, inventory control, replenishment strategies, and procurement activities.
  • Ensure inventory accuracy through cycle counts, process controls, and inventory optimization initiatives.
  • Partner with purchasing and sales teams to improve forecasting, inventory planning, and product availability.
  • Optimize warehouse layout, material flow, and shipping/receiving processes to improve efficiency.
  • Build strong relationships with suppliers to ensure timely product availability and effective supply chain performance.
Leadership & Team Development:
  • Lead, coach, mentor, and develop warehouse, customer service, and operations team members.
  • Foster a high-performance culture through clear expectations, accountability, and employee development.
  • Conduct regular performance reviews and provide ongoing coaching to improve individual and team performance.
  • Champion workplace safety while ensuring compliance with company policies and operational procedures.
Cross-Functional Collaboration:
  • Partner closely with Sales, Customer Service, Purchasing, and Finance to ensure seamless execution and exceptional customer experiences.
  • Support sales initiatives by ensuring operational capabilities align with customer expectations and business objectives.
  • Collaborate with senior leadership on operational planning, capacity management, and future growth initiatives.
  • Provide regular reporting and recommendations to improve operational performance and scalability.
What We're Looking For:
  • 5+ years of leadership experience within Industrial Distribution, Manufacturing, Wholesale Distribution, Logistics, or Supply Chain.
  • Demonstrated success leading warehouse and operational teams in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong background in Operational Excellence, Lean Manufacturing, Continuous Improvement, Six Sigma, or process optimization initiatives.
  • Experience managing inventory, procurement, warehouse operations, logistics, and distribution.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to leverage KPIs and operational metrics to drive performance improvements.
  • Proven ability to build, coach, and develop high-performing teams.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • A hands-on leader who enjoys being on the floor, supporting employees, and driving operational improvements.
