Position Summary

A-Z Bus Sales is seeking an experienced and results-driven Operations Manager to lead service operations for our Krugerville location while supporting operational oversight of our Lubbock branch. This role is responsible for driving customer satisfaction, production efficiency, revenue growth, profitability, and employee development while ensuring consistent execution of company standards and core values.

The ideal candidate will be a hands-on leader with a strong background in service, production, and operational management. This individual must possess the ability to lead teams, improve processes, manage KPIs, and build strong customer relationships in a fast-paced service environment.

Schedule

  • Full-Time, Exempt Position
  • Monday through Friday
  • Typical hours: 6:00/6:30 AM to approximately 4:30 PM
  • Additional hours, evenings, or weekends may occasionally be required based on operational demands.

Compensation

$83,000 - $120,000 annually, depending on experience, qualifications, and demonstrated operational leadership background.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

Operations Leadership

  • Oversee daily service operations to ensure safe, efficient, and profitable performance.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives focused on productivity, quality, customer satisfaction, and profitability.
  • Monitor and manage key performance indicators (KPIs), including revenue, gross profit, technician productivity, efficiency, and      Work-in-Progress (WIP).
  • Develop and implement Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and process improvements.
  • Ensure achievement of monthly production, sales, revenue, and gross profit targets.
  • Lead WIP reviews and ensure timely completion of repair orders and customer commitments.
  • Partner with Parts, Service, and Sales departments to maximize operational effectiveness.
  • Conduct regular customer visits to strengthen relationships and identify business opportunities.
  • Maintain compliance with company policies, industry regulations, and workplace safety standards.

Production & Service Management

  • Manage workflow, shop capacity, labor utilization, and production schedules to optimize efficiency.
  • Ensure service operations consistently meet customer expectations for quality and turnaround times.
  • Drive accountability for technician performance, productivity, and quality standards.
  • Support warranty administration, service scheduling, inventory management, and vendor coordination.
  • Ensure all technicians maintain required OEM certifications and training requirements.

Leadership & Personnel Management

  • Recruit, hire, onboard, train, coach, and develop service personnel.
  • Conduct performance evaluations and provide ongoing coaching and feedback.
  • Address employee relations issues and administer corrective action when necessary.
  • Foster a culture of accountability, teamwork, safety, and continuous improvement.
  • Lead regular staff meetings, safety meetings, and operational reviews.

Supervisory Responsibilities

  • Directly manage service technicians, service advisors, and support personnel.
  • Lead service operations for the Krugerville location and provide support to the Lubbock operation.
  • Ensure departmental goals align with company objectives and strategic initiatives.
  • Promote a positive, high-performance culture focused on operational excellence.

Work Environment

  • Combination of offices, service shops, and customer-site environments.
  • Regular exposure to moving mechanical parts, loud noise, fumes, and airborne particles.
  • Occasional exposure to varying weather conditions and temperatures.
Requirements:

 Required Qualifications Education

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Technical School Diploma or equivalent preferred.

Experience

  • Minimum five (5) years of Operations Management experience in production, manufacturing, fleet, transportation, dealership, heavy equipment, truck, bus, or service-related environment.
  • Minimum five (5) years of production management, shop management, or service operations experience with responsibility for      workflow, personnel leadership, and KPI performance.
  • Minimum five (5) years of personnel management experience leading teams in a fast-paced operational environment.
  • Experience managing customer service, production scheduling, departmental profitability, and operational performance      metrics.
  • Knowledge of vehicle products, warranty processes, and repair operations preferred.

Certifications & Requirements

  • Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record.
  • Ability to travel between locations and customer sites as needed.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Heavy Truck, Fleet, Bus, Automotive, or Equipment Dealership experience.
  • Experience managing departments with 20+ employees.
  • Technical training in diesel, bus, automotive, or heavy equipment repair.
  • Experience with NetSuite or other Dealer Management Systems (DMS).
  • Experience with school buses, transit bus, or commercial fleet service operations.
  • Bus air conditioning installation experience.
  • Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, or Continuous Improvement experience preferred.
