Operations Manager 

Full-Time

Lachine, QC

Shift: Monday - Friday PM 16:00pm- 1:00am 

As an Operations Manager, you will be responsible for overseeing all terminal based Pickups and Deliveries, equipment management and team development. Developing an engaged and motivated team is critical to the success of this role. A motivated, administrative professional with an emphasis on being customer, solution and process improvement focused will be key elements to your success. Building a solid relationship with the brokers with an understanding of the working contracts will be important to having a high success rate with the customers and general satisfaction of the brokers.

You will be a key manager in the terminal and have an important role in the overall success of the operations and will need to work with the other managers as a unified team to accomplish a high satisfaction rate with the customers while maintaining cost. Safety with both brokers and your team will be part of your everyday discussions and you will help maintain the culture of safety first.

How You'll Help:

  • Lead and manage a fast paced and high volume LTL dock operation though a team of supervisors, lead hands, and front line employees.
  • Coach and develop team members using a positive attitude, collaboration, clear communication, and direction.
  • Make informed decisions based on safety, service, and productivity standards, with an understanding of company processes, policies and procedures.
  • Initiate and lead process and customer experience improvements, while meeting deadlines and controlling costs.
  • Understanding and use of key metrics used to manage terminal performance, including load factor, on-time delivery, LMS, and freight flow.
  • Recognize problems and work with others towards a practical and speedy resolution.
  • Backfill the Operations Supervisors at the facilities for vacation, personal emergencies etc.
  • Responsible for vendor management for the facilities (repairs, snow removal, janitorial) as well as driver interaction such as broker pay resolution, contract renewals etc.
  • Other related duties as may be required.

Your Skills & Experience:

  • Minimum of secondary education, with preference of post-secondary education (general stream), or a combination of education and experience.
  • Previous Transportation or operational experience is preferred, various roles within transportation would be beneficial
  • Experience in dealing with brokers or Owner / Operators
  • Demonstrated experience in managing and motivating people
  • Experience and knowledge of LTL Pick up dispatching and deliveries
  • Communication skills - advanced
  • Computer skills - accuracy, MS products, AS400, web based programs
  • Demonstrated customer relationship skills
  • Strong conflict resolution skills
  • Able to work deadlines in high transactional environment
  • Ability to champion business needs in a collaborative manner to colleagues
  • Results focused
  • Strong sense of urgency and ownership of deliverables

A titre de gestionnaire des operations, vous serez responsable de superviser l'ensemble des activites de ramassage et de livraison (P&D) au terminal, de la gestion de l'equipement ainsi que du developpement de l'equipe. Le developpement d'une equipe engagee et motivee est essentiel a la reussite de ce role. Un(e) professionnel(le) administratif(ve) motive(e), axe(e) sur le service a la clientele, les solutions et l'amelioration des processus, sera un element cle de votre succes. L'etablissement de relations solides avec les courtiers et la comprehension des contrats en vigueur seront essentiels pour assurer un taux de reussite eleve aupres des clients et maintenir un haut niveau de satisfaction des courtiers.

Vous serez un gestionnaire cle au terminal et jouerez un role important dans le succes global des operations. Vous devrez collaborer etroitement avec les autres gestionnaires afin de fonctionner comme une equipe unifiee pour atteindre un haut niveau de satisfaction de la clientele tout en controlant les couts. La securite, tant pour les courtiers que pour votre equipe, fera partie de vos discussions quotidiennes et vous contribuerez activement a maintenir une culture axee sur la securite avant tout.

Votre contribution :

  • Diriger et gerer une operation de quai LTL a haut volume et en environnement dynamique, par l'intermediaire d'une equipe de superviseurs, de chefs d'equipe et d'employes de premiere ligne.
  • Encadrer et developper les membres de l'equipe en adoptant une attitude positive, favorisant la collaboration, une communication claire et un leadership efficace.
  • Prendre des decisions eclairees basees sur les normes de securite, de service et de productivite, en tenant compte des processus, politiques et procedures de l'entreprise.
  • Initier et diriger des ameliorations des processus et de l'experience client, tout en respectant les echeanciers et en controlant les couts.
  • Comprendre et utiliser les indicateurs cles de performance servant a gerer la performance du terminal, notamment le taux de chargement, les livraisons a temps, le LMS et le flux de marchandises.
  • Identifier les problemes et collaborer avec les autres afin d'en assurer une resolution rapide et efficace.
  • Assurer le remplacement des superviseurs des operations en cas de vacances, d'urgences personnelles ou autres absences.
  • Etre responsable de la gestion des fournisseurs pour les installations (reparations, deneigement, entretien menager), ainsi que des interactions avec les chauffeurs, notamment en ce qui concerne la resolution des paiements des courtiers et le renouvellement des contrats.
  • Effectuer toutes autres taches connexes, au besoin.

Vos competences et votre experience :

  • Diplome d'etudes secondaires minimum requis, avec preference pour une formation postsecondaire (volet general) ou une combinaison equivalente de formation et d'experience.
  • Une experience prealable en transport ou en operations est preferable; diverses fonctions dans le domaine du transport constituent un atout.
  • Experience dans les relations avec des courtiers ou des proprietaires-exploitants.
  • Experience demontree en gestion et en mobilisation d'equipes.
  • Experience et connaissance du dispatch des ramassages et livraisons LTL.
  • Competences avancees en communication.
  • Competences informatiques solides : exactitude, maitrise des produits Microsoft, AS400 et programmes Web.
  • Competences demontrees en gestion des relations clients.
  • Solides competences en resolution de conflits.
