Responsibilities

Operations Shift Manager

The Operations Shift Manager position plans, directs, and coordinates the operations team while overseeing the completion of production processes and procedures. This includes maintaining a safe work environment, adhering to quality standards, and maximizing productivity.  The Shift Manager is responsible for manufacturing teams from processing through packaging for their shift.

Leads and develops team members

  • Communicates effectively with employees through both oral and written means

  • Development of Self and Others: Lead, motivate and train employees to meet or exceed department goals and objectives

  • Coaches team members involved in production

  • Conducts employee training to improve employees’ expertise and knowledge in equipment operations, work safety procedures, and teamwork, or assigns employee training to experienced workers

  • Provides feedback to employees on individual performance standards in a timely and efficient manner

  • Reviews production orders or schedules to ascertain product data such as types, quantities and specifications of products and scheduled delivery dates in order to plan department operations.
  • Plans production operations, establishing priorities and sequences for manufacturing products.

  • Reviews production and operating reports and resolves operational, manufacturing and maintenance problems to ensure minimum costs and prevent operational delays.

  • Be a leader in continuous improvement and with the input of the manufacturing team, identify opportunities and execute positive change on an ongoing basis.

  • Resolves worker grievances or submits unsettled grievances to Production Superintendent for action.

Maintains a safe work environment

  • Plans, develops, and implements warehouse safety and security programs and activities

  • Ensures that behaviors, practices and the work environment support a safe workplace by enforcing safety and sanitation rules and principles


Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree with 5+ years of experience in a production, plant, OR operational supervision role, preferably in food processing

  • Advanced knowledge of plant operations

  • Knowledge of basic and advanced methods of training and coaching individuals and groups

  • Interpersonal, Decision-making, time management skills

  • Ability to plan, direct, and coordinate the operations team
  • Ability to work within an integrated operating enterprise

  • Ability to manage team members in executing complex programs

  • Ability to implement continuous improvement tools and processes
