Overview
The Banking Operations Management Trainee program aims to recruit top talent, develop and prepare them for a rewarding and successful career at East West Bank. This is a highly selective rotational program for professionals with a passion for the banking industry, and a strong entrepreneurial desire to learn about US and Greater China markets. Through a combination of rotational assignments, on-the-job and classroom training, formalized feedback and mentoring, trainees will gain direct hands-on experience in lending products and loan operations as well as exposures to deposit operations, trade operations, customer service, and other banking functions.
The program starts in July 2026. Upon successful completion of the year-long program, trainees will be matched to a role that is aligned to their skills and competencies as well as business needs. Trainees are likely to be placed in one of the Banking Operations departments in El Monte or Pasadena, California.
Responsibilities
  • Participate in cross-functional rotation assignments across various sectors in Banking Operations; develop an understanding of the full suite of East West Bank products and service offers; gain hands-on experience through assignments and customer interactions
  • Participate in on-going internal development programs, external training and self-study courses to improve technical, analytical, problem solving and risk management skills to be used on the job and to enhance professional competencies
  • Perform tasks appropriate to designated business units to gain exposure to various job functions. These learnings include understanding and managing end-to-end loan operations and servicing processes, international trade products and operations, centralized retail support and digital banking operations, and wire operations.
  • Utilize knowledge and learned skills to identify opportunities to improve processes, tackle complex projects, provide innovative business solutions and recommendations.
  • May perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications
  • Master's Graduate with applicable concentration in Business Administration, Mathematics, MIS, or equivalent.
  • Relevant job or internship experience preferred
  • Motivated to learn about banking operations, operational excellence, and a strong desire to learn about operations and products between the US and Greater China markets
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills
  • Professional working proficiency in Mandarin is a plus
  • Well-developed analytical, problem solving and critical thinking skills
  • Adaptable to changes; collaborative

Compensation
The base pay range for this position is USD $31.00/Hr. - USD $36.00/Hr. Exact offers will be determined based on job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and location.
