Job description

Job Summary:

Stocks and maintains inventory within the healthcare facility. Ensures that essential medical supplies and equipment are readily available to support patient care and hospital operations.

Job Requirements:

Education and Work Experience:

  • High School Education/GED or equivalent: Required
  • Associate's/Technical Degree or equivalent combination of education/related experience: Preferred
  • Experience in materials management, inventory control, or a related field, preferably in a healthcare setting: Preferred

Essential Functions:

  • Receives and inspects deliveries of medical supplies and equipment. Organizes, categorizes, and labels inventory items. Maintains accurate records of stock levels and consumption. Monitors expiration dates and ensures proper rotation of supplies. Ensures that all departments have access to necessary supplies by timely restocking their supply areas. Performs routine inventory checks to identify low stock items and promptly reorder as needed. Coordinates with department heads to understand their specific inventory requirements.
  • Ensures that received items meet quality and safety standards. Verifies that products are properly stored and labeled. Collaborates with leadership to address any quality issues. Maintains accurate records of all inventory transactions, including receipts, issues, and returns. Generates reports to analyze inventory levels and consumption patterns. Assists with data entry into the hospital's materials management software.
  • Communicates with suppliers to place orders, track deliveries, and resolve issues. Collaborates with the disaster preparedness team to ensure the availability of essential supplies in case of emergencies. Maintains a contingency stock of critical items for unexpected situations.
  • Ensures compliance with all relevant regulations and standards, including infection control protocols. Implements safety measures in handling, storing, and distributing hazardous materials. Supports product recall requirements to insure patient safety.
  • Trains hospital staff on proper inventory management practices. Stays updated on industry best practices and participates in relevant training as needed.
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
