Executive Director, Facilities Operations

Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced Executive Director, Facilities Operations to provide strategic leadership for facilities management services across a large ambulatory healthcare network. This executive-level leader will be responsible for developing and advancing a comprehensive facilities management program supporting hundreds of outpatient and ambulatory care locations across a multi-site healthcare system.

The Executive Director will drive operational excellence, regulatory compliance, financial performance, workforce engagement, and client satisfaction across a complex healthcare portfolio. This individual will collaborate closely with executive leadership, operational stakeholders, and regional facilities teams to develop long-term strategies that support organizational growth, operational efficiency, and an exceptional patient experience.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide executive leadership for facilities operations across a large ambulatory healthcare network.
  • Lead the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of a scalable facilities management program supporting multiple outpatient locations.
  • Partner with executive leadership, operational leaders, and clinical stakeholders to align facilities services with organizational objectives.
  • Oversee maintenance operations, engineering services, asset management, vendor management, and service delivery across a diverse healthcare portfolio.
  • Drive operational consistency, standardization, and continuous improvement initiatives across all locations.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory, accreditation, life safety, environmental, and safety requirements.
  • Develop and execute strategic plans to improve operational performance, facility reliability, and service quality.
  • Manage and optimize operating budgets, forecasting processes, resource planning, and performance metrics.
  • Lead large, geographically dispersed teams and foster a culture of accountability, engagement, and continuous development.
  • Oversee contracted services, capital projects, renovations, and construction activities as required.
  • Ensure safe, efficient, and cost-effective facility operations that support healthcare delivery and organizational objectives.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional departments to support growth initiatives, operational readiness, and facility-related projects.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
  • Minimum of 7 years of management experience.
  • Minimum of 7 years of experience in facilities management, engineering operations, or business/operations services involving both hard and soft facilities services.
  • Significant leadership experience within healthcare facilities management, engineering operations, integrated facilities services, or related environments.
  • Demonstrated success managing large, multi-site facilities portfolios.
  • Proven experience leading large teams and multiple levels of management across geographically dispersed locations.
  • Strong knowledge of facilities maintenance, engineering operations, asset management, and service delivery best practices.
  • Experience ensuring compliance with healthcare regulatory, accreditation, life safety, and environmental requirements.
  • Strong financial management skills, including budget development, forecasting, resource planning, and operational performance management.
  • Exceptional communication, relationship-building, and stakeholder management abilities.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience within health systems, ambulatory care networks, outpatient facilities, or academic medical environments.
  • Experience partnering with executive leadership teams and senior operational stakeholders.
  • Experience overseeing vendor relationships, contracted services, and construction projects.
  • Track record of implementing operational improvements and standardization initiatives across multiple sites.
