Primary Function: To assist the middle school principal in the general operation and management of the school, providing leadership, supervisory, and administrative skills in order to promote the educational development of each middle school student; to serve as an educational leader within the building, assisting the principal in managing the policies, regulations and procedures of the school district, ensuring that all students are supervised in a safe and orderly learning environment that meets the approved curricula and mission of the district.
Qualifications - Education & Experience:
  1. Master's degree or higher in the field of administration preferred, with course work in educational leadership and/or curriculum instruction.
  2. Valid State of Michigan Administrator Certification.
  3. Valid State of Michigan teaching certificate in Elementary or Secondary Education.
  4. Secondary building administrative/leadership experience, preferred.
  5. Minimum of four years of successful teaching experience.
  6. Demonstrated knowledge of current educational issues and best practices.
  7. Demonstrated leadership and success in parent/community relations, staff development, and human relations.
  8. Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate (written and oral) with stakeholders.
  9. Knowledge of current best practice instructional strategies & ability to improve teacher instruction.
  10. Demonstrated knowledge of current federal and state laws and policies.
  11. Possess an understanding of the middle school educational philosophy.
  12. Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
  1. Work to maintain an effective learning climate in the school.
  2. Work to establish and maintain a favorable relationship with local community groups and individuals to foster understanding and solicit support for overall school objectives and programs, and to interpret and implement Board policies and administrative directives.
  3. Assist in the development, revision, and implementation of building curriculum.
  4. Help to implement common assessment protocol use of data within PLCs to improve teaching and learning.
  5. Identify appropriate professional development and allocation of resources to support best practices for various programs and teaching framework.
  6. Research and implement program initiatives that support the Portrait of a Graduate.
  7. Assist building and district administrator in developing master schedule(s) that support all programs and curriculum.
  8. Support Instructional Coaches to help ensure consistency throughout programs.
  9. Serve as an administrative team member in the administration, supervision, and evaluation of administrative, teaching and ancillary staff.
  10. Serve as an administrative team member in the administration, supervision, and evaluation of support staff.
  11. Work with instructional staff to initiate, design and implement programs to meet assessed needs of students.
  12. Serve as an administrative team leader in meetings with professional and support staff for the effective operation of the school, as well as participation in district meetings, as required.
  13. Work with counseling and support staff to assess the mental health needs of the student body.
  14. Assist in the development of school-wide SEL lessons and student mental health supports.
  15. Assist in the management and supervision of students in the areas of attendance, conduct, discipline, etc.
  16. Assist in the development and implementation of program policies and procedures.
  17. Assist in the development, supervision, and evaluation of instructional and staff development programs.
  18. Assist in the implementation of building security policies and procedures.
  19. When designated, assume responsibility for the school in the absence of the principal.
  20. Supervise night activities associated with the middle school.
  21. Lead strategic planning initiatives aligned with district goals and objectives.
  22. Maintain regular and predictable in-person attendance.
  23. Openly support and abide by all school policies and procedures.
  24. Support the Oxford Community Schools vision and mission.
  25. Perform other duties as required.

Salary: Per Oxford Administrators Association Salary Schedule
