Job description


Wholesale Lending Services (WLS) is a global utility providing best-in-class lending services across the firm's lines of business. As data becomes increasingly central to how the firm operates, manages risk, and delivers client value, the WLS Chief Data Office (CDO) plays a critical role in enabling a modern, scalable, and highly governed data ecosystem. We are seeking an experienced Executive Director to lead the WLS Data & AI Strategy, serving as the WLS Deputy Chief Data Officer. In this role, you will drive the strategic direction, adoption, and execution of WLS's data and artificial intelligence agenda-ensuring data is positioned as a strategic asset that powers innovation, decision-making, and AI-enabled transformation across the business. You will operate at the intersection of business, technology, and control functions, acting as a trusted advisor to senior leadership while driving a complex, multi-year transformation agenda across WLS.
As an Executive Director within Wholesale Lending and the Deputy Chief Data Office, you will define and lead an integrated Data & AI Strategy for Wholesale Lending Services. You will be responsible for shaping how data is governed, structured, and consumed to enable advanced analytics, automation, and artificial intelligence capabilities at scale. You will serve as a strategic thought partner to senior leaders, delivering executive-level insights, shaping forward-looking data and AI priorities, and driving adoption across a distributed organization. In parallel, you will oversee a small, high-performing team and program manage the execution of strategic initiatives across WLS, ensuring alignment, accountability, and measurable business outcomes in a complex operating environment.
You will act as a trusted advisor to business, technology, and control partners, influencing decision-making at senior levels. You will develop reporting, metrics, and insights that enable transparent governance and data-driven decision-making. You will promote data stewardship, ownership, and accountability across WLS. You will champion an AI-first mindset, embedding AI/ML and automation into core WLS processes and data lifecycle management. You will partner with technology and data science teams to develop and scale AI-driven solutions that enhance productivity, risk management, and client outcomes.
Job Responsibilities
  • Define and execute the WLS Data & AI Strategy, aligned to firmwide priorities and business objectives.
  • Drive adoption of data and AI capabilities across WLS, partnering with senior stakeholders to embed these into business processes.
  • Establish a forward-looking roadmap to leverage emerging technologies, including AI/ML, automation, and advanced analytics.
  • Serve as WLS Deputy Chief Data Officer, supporting strategy, governance, and transformation priorities.
  • Lead and develop a small team of data professionals, fostering a culture of accountability, innovation, and continuous improvement.
  • Lead high-priority, cross-functional initiatives to implement and scale the WLS Data & AI Strategy.
  • Establish and enhance data governance policies, standards, and controls to ensure data integrity, quality, and regulatory compliance.
  • Promote data stewardship, ownership, and accountability across WLS.
  • Champion an AI-first mindset, embedding AI/ML and automation into core WLS processes and data lifecycle management.
  • Partner with technology and data science teams to develop and scale AI-driven solutions that enhance productivity, risk management, and client outcomes.
  • Develop and deliver executive-level narratives, materials, and recommendations to senior leadership, communicating complex data and AI concepts clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences.

Required Qualifications, Capabilities, and Skills
  • Bachelor's degree.
  • Extensive experience in financial services with deep expertise in data strategy, AI/analytics, data governance, or Chief Data Office functions.
  • Proven ability to define and drive enterprise-scale data and AI strategies across large, complex organizations.
  • Demonstrated experience leading cross-functional initiatives and transformation programs.
  • Strong understanding of data management frameworks, governance, and regulatory requirements.
  • Experience embedding AI/ML or advanced analytics capabilities into business processes.
  • Exceptional communication and executive presence, with the ability to influence senior stakeholders.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills with the ability to translate strategy into execution.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and operate effectively in fast-paced environments.

Preferred Qualifications, Capabilities, and Skills
  • MBA or advanced degree.
  • Experience in Wholesale Lending, Commercial Banking, or Corporate & Investment Banking (CIB).
  • Familiarity with modern data platforms, cloud architectures, and data ecosystems.
  • Experience in Chief Data Office or enterprise data transformation functions.
