Job description

Role

The Operations Maintenance Coordinator (OMC) is the primary contact between the Maintenance Department and Pulp, Woodyard, and Utilities Operations. The OMC will work directly with the Maintenance Department to plan and schedule work efficiently throughout the Woodyard, Pulpmill, and Utilities Departments to minimize downtime, maximize equipment reliability, and support safe and cost-effective operations.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Ensures and is accountable for personal compliance with Plant and Departmental safety rules.
  • Completes all required computer-based training on time.
  • Attends all in-person safety training as it is scheduled.
  • Uses all PPE required for safe execution of job tasks. Has the ability to be qualified for respirator use.
  • Promotes and fosters a workplace culture of continuous improvement of environmental practices.
  • Adheres to environmental policies and promotes performing tasks in ways that support environmental objectives.
  • Works directly with Maintenance to plan and schedule maintenance activities in a cost-effective manner that will maximize equipment uptime and support safety, environmental and production goals.
  • Actively participates in scheduled maintenance outages, prioritizing work, completing LOTOTO and executing work.
  • Defines schedule and priorities of work notifications/orders.
  • Understands the cost and production implications of using outside resources to complete work, and exercises good judgement in doing so.
  • Recommends equipment repairs and replacement. Provides input to cost center owners of the need for such projects.
  • Provides technical assistance to all Pulpmill, Woodyard and Utilities areas and follows all capital and maintenance work being completed.
  • Provide technical support to Maintenance to solve department related problems.
  • Assists with minor maintenance repairs, inspection, or overhaul of Pulpmill, Woodyard and Utility equipment.
  • Performs periodic visual checks on equipment.
  • Issues requisitions for maintenance supplies and materials.
  • Works to ensure that the effective communications is transferred between Maintenance and Operations at all times.
  • Develops and tracks work order analytics for completion, backlog, mean time to failure, rework, etc.
  • Provide monthly reports for on analytics
  • Creates gannt charts for outages and tracks completion status
  • Assists with the preparation of year Maintenance budget costs for the Pulpmill, Woodyard and Utilities Departments.
  • Provides input and aids in executing OBC routes.
  • Covers the Pulpmill and/or Utility department for weekend call rotation.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Experience– Previous experience in a manufacturing environment, preferably in heavy industry is preferred. Pulp and Paper industry experience is a bonus.
  • Education– 4 year degree in Mechanical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering Technology preferred. Other Engineering degrees will be considered and are dependent upon experience.
  • Competencies
  • Ability to apply basic principles of logical or scientific thinking to a wide range of practical problems.
  • Working knowledge of fundamental math as it applies to the job.
  • Working knowledge of piping and process control instrumentation (pH, conductivity, flow, pressure, level, temperature, etc.).
  • Strong leadership skills. Results focused with demonstrated success in execution.
  • Effective communication skills needed both internally and externally.
  • Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from operators, maintenance, or supervision.
  • Computer Skills
  • MS Office Suite and MS Project proficiency.
  • SAP familiarity
  • Work Environment
  • Varies from office setting to loud, hot & humid manufacturing environment both indoor and outdoor. Role requires the ability to travel throughout the facility while using stairs, ladders, elevated platforms, and elevators. Normal vision or vision corrected to near normal is essential.  Normal depth perception and peripheral. Ability to be qualified for respirator use.
