Position: Assistant Director

Reports to: Tega Cay Recreation Director / Director of Recreation


About the Role

Charlotte Independence Soccer Club is looking for a motivated and organized Assistant Director to

help lead our Tega Cay Recreation Soccer program. Tega Cay is one of our largest and fastest-growing recreation locations, and this position will play an important role in making sure players, coaches, and families have a great experience throughout the season. The Assistant Director will work closely with the Tega Cay Recreation Director and the Club's Recreation Department to support the day-to-day operation of the program, with a strong focus on coach support, communication, player and team needs, field operations, and creating a positive soccer environment for families. This is a hands-on position. The ideal candidate is someone who enjoys being around soccer, working with people, solving problems, and making sure things run smoothly.


This is a seasonal, part-time position with the majority of work taking place during recreation practices and games.

The position requires availability for evening practices and weekend games, along with additional hours for preseason preparation, coach meetings, clinics, and other Club events. Schedule will vary based on the needs of the Tega Cay Recreation program.


Key Responsibilities

Program Operations

  • Assist with the day-to-day operation of the Tega Cay Recreation program.
  • Help coordinate practices, games, fields, equipment, and other program logistics.
  • Be present at designated practices and game days to support coaches, players, and families.
  • Help identify and resolve issues quickly and professionally.
  • Support the Recreation Director with season preparation and execution.

Coach Support

  • Serve as a primary point of contact for recreation coaches.
  • Help coaches understand schedules, expectations, rules, and Club procedures. Assist with coach onboarding and preseason preparation.
  • Provide support to coaches during practices and games. Help recruit and retain volunteer coaches.

Player & Family Experience

  • Help create a welcoming, organized, and positive environment for players and families.
  • Respond to questions and concerns from families and direct issues to the appropriate Club staff when needed.
  • Help ensure players are placed on appropriate teams and that team-related issues are addressed.
  • Represent Charlotte Independence Soccer Club professionally and positively within the Tega Cay community.

Game & Field Operations

  • Assist with game-day operations and ?eld setup as needed. Help monitor fields and communicate field-related issues.
  • Assist with referee and game-day logistics.
  • Help ensure games and practices are running on time and according to Club expectations. Be prepared to step in and solve unexpected problems when they arise.

Administrative Support

  • Assist with team formation, scheduling, and other seasonal preparation.
  • Utilize Club systems, including PlayMetrics, to help manage program information.
  • Communicate important information to coaches and families.
  • Track and report issues, trends, and program needs to the Recreation Director.
  • Assist with special events, clinics, coach meetings, and other Club initiatives.

  • Familiar with youth soccer and/or recreation sports programs.
  • Comfortable using technology and learning Club systems such as PlayMetrics.
  • Able to work effectively with a wide range of coaches, players, parents, and Club staff.
  • Previous experience coaching, managing youth sports, or working in soccer is strongly preferred.
  • Playing experience is a plus, but the ability to lead, communicate, organize, and support people is most important.
