Looking for a hands-on role where you can help keep a busy preschool running smoothly? We are currently seeking a dependable, energetic Food Service Support - Assistant Cook to join our team!

This position is an important part of our school’s daily operations. While there may be some light food preparation involved, this is not primarily a cooking position. The majority of the role focuses on meal service support, dishes, laundry, stocking, cleaning, and helping ensure food and supplies get where they need to be throughout our school.

What You’ll Do

As our Food Service Support Assistant, you’ll help keep meal service and daily school operations moving efficiently. Responsibilities include:

  • Delivering prepared meals and snacks to classrooms throughout the school.
  • Picking up dishes, trays, containers, and meal-service items from classrooms after meals.
  • Washing, sanitizing, drying, and putting away dishes and kitchen equipment.
  • Completing school laundry throughout the day, including washing, drying, folding, and distributing clean items.
  • Taking out trash and maintaining clean and sanitary food-service areas.
  • Stocking food, beverages, paper products, and other supplies.
  • Receiving and organizing food and supply deliveries.
  • Maintaining organized refrigerators, freezers, storage areas, and food-service spaces.
  • Assisting with portioning, organizing, and preparing food items for classroom delivery as needed.
  • Following all food-safety, sanitation, and allergy procedures.
  • Keeping carts, counters, sinks, equipment, and work areas clean and organized.
  • Communicating with classroom and leadership teams to make sure meals and supplies are delivered accurately and on time.
  • Pitching in with other food-service and operational tasks as needed to support the school.
What This Position Is Really About

This is a fast-paced, physical, hands-on support position. You will be moving throughout a large preschool building, transporting meals, collecting dishes, completing multiple loads of laundry, stocking supplies, cleaning, and helping maintain an organized food-service operation.

You do not need to be a chef or have extensive cooking experience. We are looking for someone who is dependable, organized, efficient, and willing to jump in and get things done.

Who We’re Looking For

The right person for this role is someone who:

  • Is reliable and takes pride in keeping things clean and organized.
  • Can work independently and manage a daily routine efficiently.
  • Is comfortable being on their feet and moving throughout the school for much of the day.
  • Can safely lift and transport food containers, laundry, supplies, and trash.
  • Works well as part of a team and communicates effectively.
  • Understands the importance of cleanliness and sanitation in a childcare environment.
  • Is willing to help wherever needed and enjoys being an important part of a busy school community.

Experience in food service, childcare, housekeeping, school operations, hospitality, or a similar support role is helpful but not required.

Why You’ll Love Being Part of Our Team

We’re committed to creating bright futures for children, families, employees, and communities. Although this position may work primarily behind the scenes, it plays an essential role in keeping our classrooms supported and our school running smoothly every day.
