Description
The Kentucky Department of Parks is currently seeking an experienced and motivated Maintenance Manager to leadthe Maintenance Operation's Branch within the Facilities Management Division of Kentucky State Parks. Thisposition leads and supervises skilled trades personnel, working as project consultants for all capitalprojects and repairs across Kentucky State Parks.
Key Responsibilities
  • Manage maintenance operations and preventative maintenance programs by providing oversight and support on these programs across all Kentucky State Parks.
  • Supervise a group of Master Tradesman performing Capital project management and repairs.
  • Coordinate project management for repairs, inspections, and outside contractor activities.
  • Ensure compliance with safety regulations, building codes, and other regulatory processes related to projects and repairs.
  • Develop, review and coordinate maintenance schedules, budgets, and inventory control measures that affect the department.
  • Troubleshoot complex maintenance issues and implement solutions.
  • Recommend and support facility improvement and capital project planning.
  • Support other departments and divisions within Parks Central Office or other outside agencies.
Qualifications:
  • Experience managing maintenance teams or skilled trades personnel
  • Strong knowledge of building systems, HVAC, electrical, plumbing, wastewater systems and general maintenance.
  • Strong leadership skills, communication, and organizational skills are critical.
  • Ability to be responsive to emergency needs, prioritize work and schedule staff.
  • Master trade certification or formal technical training preferred
  • Valid driver's license required

Minimum Requirements
EDUCATION:High school graduate.
EXPERIENCE, TRAINING, OR SKILLS:Seven years of building maintenance, grounds maintenance, general trades, skilled trades, moving services or mechanical maintenance experience.
Substitute EDUCATION for EXPERIENCE:Formal training in industrial arts, horticulture, building maintenance, grounds maintenance, general trades, skilled trades, mechanical engineering, or a related field will substitute for the experience on a year-for- year basis.
Substitute EXPERIENCE for EDUCATION:Experience in one of the above or related fields will substitute for the education on a year-for-year basis.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS (AGE, LICENSURE, REGULATION, ETC.):NONE
Working Conditions
Incumbents in this job title may be required to use hand tools and lift items in excess of 20 pounds.
Probationary Period
This job has an initial and promotional probationary period of 6 months, except as provided in KRS 18A.111.
