Job description

Please Note: This position is located on-site at our Lebanon, IN facility.
SUMMARY: The Operations Analyst in the Logistics/Distribution industry is responsible for analyzing and optimizing supply chain processes, improving operational efficiency, and ensuring cost-effective distribution strategies. This role involves data analysis, performance monitoring, and process improvement to enhance logistics operations, inventory management, and transportation efficiency.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Data Analysis & Reporting:
  • Retrieve data via Sequel Server systems to create spreadsheet and reports.
  • Analyze logistics data, including inventory levels, shipment schedules, and transportation costs, to identify trends and inefficiencies.
  • Maintain reports on key performance indicators (KPIs) related to supply chain and distribution.
  • Use data-driven insights to recommend process improvements and cost-saving strategies.

Process Optimization:
  • Identify bottlenecks and inefficiencies in warehouse, distribution, and transportation operations.
  • Implement best practices for inventory management, route optimization, and order fulfillment.
  • Support the integration of technology solutions such as warehouse management systems (WMS) and transportation management systems (TMS).

Logistics Coordination:
  • Schedule orders daily in WMS via order retrieval, tagging, and waving.
  • Monitor supply chain operations to ensure timely and accurate deliveries.
  • Work closely with logistics teams, clients, customers, carriers, and suppliers to improve shipping performance and reduce delays.
  • Assist in developing contingency plans for supply chain disruptions.

Cost Management:
  • Analyze cost structures in transportation, warehousing, and distribution to identify savings opportunities.
  • Assist in negotiating contracts with carriers and suppliers to optimize cost and service levels.
  • Monitor freight expenses and provide recommendations for reducing costs.

Compliance & Risk Management:
  • Ensure that logistics operations comply with industry regulations and company policies.
  • Monitor safety and compliance measures in warehouse and transportation operations.
  • Assist in risk assessment and mitigation strategies to address potential supply chain disruptions.

Collaboration & Communication:
  • Work cross-functionally with departments such as procurement, sales, and customer service to align logistics with business goals.
  • Present findings and recommendations to senior management to drive operational improvements.
  • Support training and process documentation for logistics and warehouse teams.

  • Experience with Lean, Six Sigma, or other process improvement methodologies.
  • Familiarity with ERP systems (SAP, Oracle, etc.).
  • Understanding of international logistics and customs regulations.
  • Strong analytical skills and proficiency in data analysis tools (Excel, SQL, Power BI, etc.).
  • Knowledge of warehouse management systems (WMS) and transportation management systems (TMS).

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business Analytics, or a related field preferred and 2+ years of experience in logistics, distribution, or supply chain operations.
