Position Summary:


The primary responsibility of this role will be to direct and coordinate Distribution Center activities to obtain optimum efficiency and economy of operations and maximize location operating profit by performing the duties listed through subordinate supervisors. This position will plan, organize, staff direct and control specific activities including operations, administration, and customer service. This individual will ensure that systems and procedures are developed supporting the established company organizational objectives. Secondary responsibilities will include account management with in house customers as needed to support the Distribution Center Manager. This position will review the expenses of the distribution center and respond to controllable budget variances. Each location will operate and comply with all federal, state, and local statues.


Essential Job Functions:

  • Plans, develops and implements organization policies and goals consistent with established company policies and procedures designed to increase the volume of customer accounts and warehouse activities.
  • Coordinates activities of distribution center such as; operations, administration, customer service, coordinating with sales to effect operational efficiency and economy.
  • Reviews monthly P&L Reports comparing to budget information and expense trends being accountable for controllable budget variances. Maintain a system of controls designed to ensure those service levels and operational goals are met within the prescribed cost, revenue and profit parameters. Responsible for budget development of location controllable expenses.
  • Confers with administrative personnel and reviews activity, operation and sales reports to determine changes in programs or operations required.
  • Represents the company in the market place promoting the organization in the local community, industry and trade associations.
  • Encourages an environment of effective customer service standards assuring that customer accounts receive the necessary level of operational and administrative support.
  • Participates in sales calls in an effort to ascertain the customer needs and requirements. Review with the DC Manager and Office Manager all rate proposals and monitor for areas of improvement. Review account strategies and areas for improvement with appropriate company resources.
  • Develops and support the organizational efforts designed to maintain the standards for the safety, security and sanitation programs.
  • Provides support to other areas of the company as requested to support overall company goals.
  • Abides by all local, state and federal regulations involving safe and responsible work environment.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:   

  • Provides guidance to administrative subordinates
  • Manages subordinate managers in support of their staff of employees in the Warehouse, Customer Service and Administration.
  • Responsible for the overall direction, coordination and evaluation of these units. Also may directly supervise a non-supervisory administrative position.
  • Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance the organization’s policies and applicable laws.
  • Administers the recruitment process; interviewing, hiring and training employees.
  • Monitors the scheduling of manpower levels, assigning and directing work
  • Conducts performance appraisals, motivates, address complaints, discipline and resolve problems.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills and strong interpersonal skills required.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures or governmental regulations.  
  • Ability to write reports, business correspondence and procedure manuals.  
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
  • Strong mathematical/statistical analysis knowledge required.  
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, and diagram or schedule form.

Education, Experiences, Certificates/Licenses and/or Registrations:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Logistics, Business, Management or other related field is highly preferred
  • Minimum five (5) years of experience in warehousing and logistics management
  • Experience in a Third Party 3PL multi- customer environment extremely desired
  • Profit & Loss (P & L) experience is a must
  • Must have profit and lost (P&L) and labor management experience
  • Understanding of Retail Compliance, RF, and EDI as it relates to warehouse operations important


Work Environment and Safety Equipment Required:


While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to sit and stand to perform work. The employee is required to reach with hands and arms, smell, talk or hear. The employee must be able to lift, push, pull or move up to fifty (50) pounds or more with assistance. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, peripheral vision and ability to adjust focus. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to noisy and the employee may be exposed to extreme weather.
