The Job

We are seeking a hands-on, detail-oriented Accounting Manager to oversee the daily operations of our accounting department within a fast-paced auction, retail and inventory-driven environment. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in operational accounting, inventory management, and transactional environments while ensuring accurate financial reporting in compliance with GAAP. The ideal candidate will bring strong experience supporting retail, inventory, or consumer goods operations and have a passion for improving processes, developing teams, and partnering cross-functionally.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the monthly close process, ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting in accordance with GAAP.
  • Oversee the daily performance and workflow of the accounting dept
  • Review and approve journal entries, reconciliations, and supporting schedules.
  • Maintain oversight of general ledger activity across multiple operating entities and consolidated reporting.
  • Prepare and reconcile intercompany transactions and FX translations.
  • Identify process bottlenecks and implement automation and efficiency improvement
  • Mentor, coach, and develop accounting staff to support team growth
  • Communicate priorities, deadlines, and business objectives clearly to the team.
  • Support external audits by preparing schedules and audit support documentation.


Operational Accounting

  • Oversee accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger activity, and bank reconciliations.
  • Assist with auction consignor payouts and ensure compliance with consignment agreements, including post-sale adjustments.
  • Manage the review and reconciliation of Corporate Amex transactions and employee expense reports.
  • Support treasury operations including cash flow forecasting, ACH/wire processing, and foreign vendor payment management.
  • Prepare annual 1099-MISC and 1099-NEC filings.


Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting required.
  • Strong understanding of US GAAP and domestic/foreign tax regulations.
  • 5+ years of accounting experience in retail, distribution, warehouse, or inventory-based business.
  • Wine & Spirits and/or Retail experience strongly preferred.
  • Experience with inventory valuation and COGS reporting.
  • NetSuite experience preferred

Hybrid Schedule: (3 days in office)
