The anticipated salary range for this role is between $79,456.00 and $112,000.00. The specific salary offered to an applicant will be based on their individual qualifications, experiences, and an analysis of the current compensation paid in their geography and the market for similar roles at the time of hire. The role may also be eligible for an annual discretionary incentive award. In addition to cash compensation, SMBC offers a competitive portfolio of benefits to its employees.

Role Descrpition
  • Perform domain specific review and challenge of first-line operational risk functions covering frameworks, policies, methodologies, people, processes, systems, regulation, and external factors relating to operations, resilience, and business continuity management to provide required risk oversight and governance. Collaborate with first-line functions (e.g., Operational Resilience, Business Continuity, IT, Business Control Operations) on risk evaluation and control effectiveness.
  • Review risk mitigation strategies and controls aligned with the firm's risk appetite, control taxonomies, and residual risk tolerances.
  • Conduct second-line oversight reviews of business area programs and functions, including process assessments and risk/control self-assessments of operational risks associated with technology, business continuity, and resilience.
  • Provide subject matter expertise in the design and evaluation of controls within assigned risk domain.
  • Review risk mitigation action plans to reduce residual risk as identified through the review and challenge process.
  • Maintain and enhance risk and control data using historical data and forward-looking scenarios.
  • Develop and evaluate risk dashboards and key risk indicators for accuracy and completeness utilizing applied analytical analysis.
  • Develop meaningful risk metrics, themes, and trends and reporting through modeling and analytical techniques.
  • Produce summaries and reports that quantify current risk levels in support of reporting to risk committees.
  • Plan and manage project tasks and deliverables from start to finish by setting project goals, organizing tasks, coordinating meetings, and ensuring projects are completed on time with issues are raised and addressed.
  • Strong in communication and keeping stakeholders informed. Support management in regulatory exam activities (preparation, information gathering, presentations).

Qualifications and Skills
  • Bachelor's degree in Statistics, Mathematics or a related field plus 2 years of experience.
  • Special skills: Applied Data Visualization; Applied Analytical Analysis; Information Technology Operations & Service Management (ITSM); Project Coordination and Management; Risk Management. 
  • The required skill set does not need to be maintained over the full term of the required experience and may be gained through employment or education.
