Position Summary:

We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Research Scientist. 
The Research Scientist designs and executes high-quality computational analyses within an expanding portfolio of transplant-focused operations research studies within the Center for Surgical and Transplant Applied Research (CSTAR). This role is responsible for independent execution of specified analyses through evolving requirements, which may include machine learning and statistical inference, programming discrete event simulations, cleaning and linking datasets, and other tasks in collaboration with research staff across CSTAR.  Timely execution, familiarity with current methods, technology, and tools, and big-picture thinking for medical applications are valued across multiple concurrent studies.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Scientific and Technical Analyses

Design and execute quantitative, statistical, optimization, and simulation based analyses in collaboration with other CSTAR research staff.
Maintain expertise in analytic strategies, statistical analysis plans, and modeling approaches through continuous learning.
Review and quality-check analytic outputs, code, and documentation to ensure methodological rigor, reproducibility, and adherence to study protocols.
Support interpretation of results and contribute to manuscripts, abstracts, presentations, and reports under faculty direction.
Support grant development and reporting activities for NIH-funded and other sponsored research, including contributing to methods and analytic sections.

  • Project Execution

Execute on multiple concurrent research projects, ensuring milestones and deliverables are met.
Promote consistency in analytic methods, documentation, and best practices across projects.

  • Collaboration

Provide peer mentoring and collaborative  support onboarding, training, and professional development.
Prepare interim summaries of analysis and give presentations for principal investigators as needed.
Interface with faculty investigators to translate research questions into feasible analytic approaches.
Collaborate with internal and external research partners, including investigators at other academic institutions. 

Minimum Qualifications:
To qualify you must have a MS degree and 2-4 years of experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Preferred Qualifications:
Substantial experience from having completed Post Doc training. Established a record of publications

NYU Langone Health provides a salary range to comply with the New York state Law on Salary Transparency in Job Advertisements. The salary range for the role is $58,500.00 - $100,000.00 Annually. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, specialty, education, and hospital need.
