What is an operation manager?

Operation Managers are professionals responsible for overseeing and improving the day-to-day operations of a business or organization. Their duties typically include managing staff, optimizing processes, ensuring quality standards, and coordinating between different departments to achieve organizational goals. Operation Managers play a key role in increasing efficiency and productivity while maintaining high levels of customer satisfaction and compliance with company policies.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as an operation manager?

To thrive as an Operations Manager, you need strong organizational, analytical, and leadership skills, typically supported by a bachelor's degree in business, management, or a related field. Job description

 About the Role

Garage Doors Unlimited is looking for a strong Office Manager to take ownership of our operations.
This is not an entry-level role. You will be responsible for the performance, structure, and accountability of  field technicians (service techs and installers) and  clerical office operations assistants, and warehouse shop hand.

We are a fast-moving service and installation company running on ServiceTitan (will train). If you are someone who builds systems, holds people accountable, and keeps operations tight, this role is for you.

What You’ll Be Responsible For

  • Oversee and manage overall office performance
  • Own and improve operational systems and workflows
  • Manage and enforce proper use of CRM across all departments
  • Coordinate between sales, operations, and warehouse teams
  • Handle high-level customer issues and escalations
  • Oversee payroll structure and incentive alignment
  • Identify inefficiencies and implement solutions
  • Ensure the business runs clean, organized, and on process

What You’ll Be Doing Day-to-Day

  • Reviewing performance metrics and job flow
  • Identifying breakdowns and fixing them
  • Leading weekly leadership/operations meetings
  • Working with the Operations Supervisor to ensure daily execution is clean
  • Making decisions that improve efficiency and profitability
  • Supporting long-term growth through better systems and structure

What We’re Looking For

  • Strong operational mindset (you think in systems, not tasks)
  • Experience managing teams and holding people accountable
  • Ability to make decisions and take ownership
  • Experience in home services, construction, or similar industries is a plus
  • Experience with ServiceTitan (or similar software) strongly preferred
  • Organized, direct, and able to communicate clearly
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced, high-expectation environment

Why This Role Matters

This position plays a key role in how the company operates and grows.
Success in this role means:
  • The office runs smoothly
  • The team performs at a higher level
  • Customers have a better overall experience
  • The company continues to improve and scale
