Job description

We are looking for an Area Asphalt Plant Operations Manager to join our team in Northern Utah (Hyrum/Ogden facilities). The Asphalt Area Operations Manager position will be tasked with directing and managing all a 2 plant operation (Hyrum & Ogden Utah) with overall responsibilities for production, maintenance, and quality while maintaining a safety-first attitude. This position requires management resources in adherence with all company standards, policies, and procedures, as well as compliance with all federal and state regulations. This position will need to provide strong leadership, training, team building, and supervision emphasizing employee development.

About the Role 

Responsibilities:

Responsible for Operations and Production activities.

Responsible for the Health and Welfare of the crew and ensuring the site meets or exceeds OSHA Standards

Responsible for the administration of the Quikrete Vision Zero safety policies.

Responsible for ensuring all sales are scheduled in Apex, both internal and external sales

Takes external sales orders.

Ensures that quality products are being produced within internal and external specifications

Verifies production logs, incoming materials BOLs, and Lime usage/audit are correct.

Coordinates with Maintenance Area Manager about plant availability

Assists the site manager in making a Production Program

Makes the daily production schedule. Based on daily maintenance projects and mix production volumes.

Assists in coordinating with Outside Contractors on Equipment Repairs as needed

Assists in Scheduling of Crew based on Production and Maintenance needs within Available Operating Hours

Responsible for obtaining the maximum production at the plants

Responsible for knowing the Area Financials and achieving the budget, volume, and plant efficiency.

Coordinates with HMA Operations Manager to ensure the Production Plan and Maintenance Plan are being executed according to the budgets

Assists with dispatches and all Apex-related issues.

Coordinates with Paving Manager, Trucking, and External Customers to schedule daily plant volumes to provide correct quantities and quality of HMA

Ensures plant calibrations are completed and documented prior to production

About You

We Require:

Experience Required

5 years in an industrial Plant Production Based-type Environment (aggregates or similar product lines preferred)

Education and/or Experience: bachelor’s degree or similar  in engineering or management operations preferred.

2 to 5 years of management experience and familiarity with production, equipment, maintenance or quality control.

Proficient knowledge of MSHA safety requirements.
Computer Skills: Experience with Microsoft Office products and ability to adapt to other computer software. Command Alkon, Command Batch, and Command Dispatch are a plus.
Must be willing to work overtime, nights, and weekends when necessary. Must be willing to travel and work away from home when required.
