MANAGER II OPERATIONS
WHAT IS THE OPPORTUNITY?
City National Bank is looking for an Operations Manager within Capital Markets Operations. This candidate will support Foreign Exchange (FX) front office and Interest Rate Risk Management (IRRM) teams. The ideal candidate will have strong FX back-office knowledge. This role is responsible for processing/authorizing transactions (including but not limited to swap interest payments, SWIFT wires and messages, bank fundings, and overall customer service for all inquiries and escalations. This role requires the ability to work in a fast-paced environment and multitask with strong communication skills. The FX Operations Manager will follow policies and procedures within company standards, participate in projects assigned to operational department, and analyze current processes to identifying opportunities for improvements. Performs special projects as requested.
WHAT WILL YOU DO?
  • Provide support for FX Spots, Forwards, NDFs, etc.
  • Provide support for IRRM swaps, caps, collars, callable swaps, and risk participation agreements.
  • Subject Matter Expert in all Back-Office operations including reporting, money movement of funds to/from client and internal bank accounts.
  • Builds and manages a strong and diverse operations organization to meet business objectives and maximize productivity, quality, customer service/satisfaction, colleague morale, retention, controls on operating risk, and financial goals.
  • May function as liaison with Technology, Compliance, Risk, Sales and Trading internal partners, as well as business units from around the bank. Ensures a good working relationship is maintained between departments and colleagues.
  • Ensures activities are in compliance with legal/regulatory requirements and CNB policy and procedure. This includes adherence to all internal and external requirements related to OFAC, BSA, AML and all other applicable compliance related functions as appropriate to the departmental assignment.
  • Ensures staff receives appropriate training to maintain proper risk-related controls and knowledge of applicable regulatory requirement and ensures that staff make the appropriate decisions, which may include escalating to management.
  • With management, participates in departmental and bank-wide projects as back office SME, tracks task assignments, ensures departmental resources are available, and implements strategy and project steps with consideration to constraints of budget, schedule and impact.
  • Identifies, recommends and implements new processes, procedures and products to improve workflow, efficiency and/or profitability; oversees or participates in operations development and improvement programs.
  • Creates and facilitates changes by integrating new systems or processes with existing ones; measures results and identifies necessary corrective actions required to meet goals.
  • Seeks and implements industry best practices across operations; remains knowledgeable in industry trends and developments.
  • Directly or indirectly oversees all Human Resources and related functions, including hiring staff and personnel issues. This includes timely completion of performance appraisals, accurate payroll records, and the development and career planning of staff.
  • Performs other duties as assigned or requested.

WHAT DO YOU NEED TO SUCCEED?
Required Qualifications*
  • Minimum 5 years banking operations experience in a financial institution required.
  • Minimum 5 years banking and operations management experience.
  • Minimum 2 years experience in managing projects and/or teams required.

  • Critical and strategic thinker. Knowledge of applicable regulatory requirements.
  • Seasoned problem-solving, analytical and decision-making skills.
  • Strong project management skills.

Starting base salary: $87,027 - $138,965 per year. Exact compensation may vary based on skills, experience, and location. This job is eligible for bonus and/or commissions.
