ASSISTANT STORE MANAGER
POSITION SUMMARY
The Assistant Store Manager is primarily responsible for the proper and efficient operation of their assigned store and shift. In the absence of the Store Manager, the Assistant Store Manager assumes the Store Manager responsibilities, within policy and guidelines.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Essential Functions Statement(s)
  • Monitor department policies, goals, objectives, and procedures to achieve maximum gross profit in line with Company standards and methods of operation.
  • Assist with staffing requirements and recruit, recommend and train new employees. Objectively evaluates performance and recommends qualified employees for promotion. Uses proactive management techniques to reduce employee turnover.
  • Orders any stock, materials and supplies as needed.
  • Performs sales floor work such as greeting and assisting customers, stocking shelves, and taking inventory. Must be able to perform all cashier shift duties when required.
  • Responsible for the operations and supervision of their store in the absence of the Store Manager to ensure proper implementation of Company policies and procedures, including courteous and effective customer service.
  • Carry out Company directed product marketing strategies including advertising campaigns and sales promotions. Displays advertising material and window banners on a timely basis. Alerts store manager of competitor's price changes as required.
  • Timely and accurate store reporting, bank deposits, payroll and personnel reports
  • The security and accountability of all company assets, including cash, merchandise, gasoline, money orders, equipment and property
  • Perform specific tasks and will assume store management on specific shifts as assigned by the Regional Supervisor.
  • Immediately report to Store Manager or supervisor any discrepancy in Store operations or violation of company policy.
  • Monitor and maintain proper store and pump-island cleanliness, appearance and maintenance per company guidelines. Uses the "E-Spot" reporting system to immediately request required maintenance.
  • Monitor activities directly related to selling products or providing services. Strives to improve sales through suggestive selling and customer service. Trains staff in selling techniques.
  • Adheres to and enforces all applicable federal, state and local laws and regulations while on Company premises.
  • Follow all company and personnel scheduling and coordinate shift schedules with store manager to compensate for unscheduled absences.
  • Ensure the Store Manager is aware of all sales, cash and operating discrepancies, keeping inventory shrink and cash shortages within assigned tolerances and requesting equipment maintenance as required to maintain top customer service.
  • Conducts himself/herself in a professional manner demonstrating strong leadership and communication ability. Speaks highly of the company in the presence of other employees or customers while holding sensitive store operations information in strict confidence.
