Description

American Traveler is hiring a travel RN for an Operating Room position in Round Rock, TX, requiring at least 1 year of general OR experience and proficiency across multiple surgical specialties including general, orthopedic, and neuro surgery.

  • Hospital-based Operating Room setting with 11 OR suites
  • Surgical specialties include general, orthopedic, neuro, robotic (thoracic, GYN, urology), cardiovascular, vascular, and trauma surgery
  • Typical procedures include X-LIF, A-LIF, ACDF, craniotomy, Mako Robot total joints, CABG, valve surgery, TAVR, TCAR, TEVAR, EVAR, and open/laparoscopic general surgery
  • 1:1 patient ratio per OR room
  • Equipment includes the da Vinci Xi Robot, Mako Robot, Stryker laparoscopic tower, surgical microscopes, Stealth navigation, and endovascular hybrid room equipment
  • EMR: Meditech
  • Shift hours: 7:00 AM – 7:00 PM; shift lengths vary based on need (8-, 10-, or 12-hour shifts)
  • Scheduled Saturday through Monday
  • On-call requirements apply
  • Weekend work is required based on scheduling needs
Requirements
  • Active TX RN license or compact RN license required
  • Current BLS certification (AHA or ARC accepted; must not expire within the first 30 days of the assignment start)
  • Minimum 1 year of recent OR experience required
  • Experience in general surgery, orthopedic surgery, and neuro surgery is required
  • Candidates must not have any gaps in work history of 90 days or more within the past 12 months
  • US SSN and date of birth required for consideration — no Canadian SSNs accepted
  • One professional reference required (two required for candidates from Florida or Missouri)
  • Candidates must reside more than 50 miles from the facility — local candidates are not eligible
Additional Information
  • Trauma surgery experience is preferred and will be given priority consideration
  • Vascular surgery experience (e.g., fistula creation, endarterectomy) is preferred
  • Candidates for CVOR roles must have a minimum of 2 years of CVOR experience, including all adult open heart cases, open and endovascular procedures (Triple A surgery), and must be willing to work TAVR cases in collaboration with the Cath Lab
  • Flexibility across different OR room types and case types is essential
  • Candidates may occasionally be asked to assist with the orientation and mentoring of new grad RNs or surgical techs
  • Facility-provided scrubs in light blue are required
  • This is a travel position — local candidates are not eligible
