Job description

The Operating Room RN (Circulator) provides nursing care to patients throughout the perioperative continuum. This role involves coordinating patient care with surgeons, anesthesiologists, and technicians, ensuring a sterile and safe environment, and advocating for the patient while under anesthesia.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Perioperative Assessment: Perform thorough preoperative assessments and prepare the operating room, ensuring all equipment, supplies, and instruments are functional and sterile.
  • Intraoperative Care: Function as a circulating nurse, anticipating the needs of the surgical team, assisting with positioning, maintaining aseptic technique, and documenting patient care meticulously.
  • Patient Advocacy: Act as a patient advocate, ensuring safety and comfort while the patient is anesthetized.
  • Collaboration: Coordinate with surgeons and anesthesia providers to ensure optimal patient outcomes during surgical procedures.
  • Specialized Care: Support surgical specialties including Cancer Care, orthopedics, and neurosurgery.

Qualifications:
  • Registered Nurse license in the Commonwealth of Virginia or compact state.
  • Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
  • BLS (Basic Life Support) certification required.
  • Previous Operating Room experience strongly preferred, ideally in an acute care setting.
