The Patient Care Assistant in the Operating Room (OR) plays a vital role in supporting surgical teams and ensuring exceptional patient experiences. This role directly impacts patient comfort, safety, and efficient workflow within a dynamic surgical environment. You assist patients before, during, and after surgical procedures, contributing significantly to their well-being and recovery. Your contributions ensure the OR runs smoothly, allowing surgical staff to focus on critical tasks.
Job Duties and Responsibilities
  • Provides direct patient care, assisting with personal needs and comfort measures.
  • Monitors and accurately records vital signs, reporting any changes promptly to nursing staff.
  • Assists patients with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs), including mobility, hygiene, and feeding.
  • Engages in clear and empathetic communication with patients, families, and the healthcare team.
  • Adheres strictly to infection control protocols, maintaining a sterile and safe environment.
  • Ensures patient safety by following established procedures and identifying potential risks.
  • Maintains accurate and timely documentation of patient observations and care provided.
